Ancient City (エンシェントシティ Enshento Shiti), also known as Centaur Man's Stage (ケンタウロスマンステージ), is a stage from Mega Man 6 that has Centaur Man as its boss.
Description[]
Taking place in the daytime of Greece, the stage is a high-tech area that resembles ancient ruins, with waterfalls, high mountains, and tall pillars jutting out of the water. This is the game's primary water stage, starting off with small pools of water to jump in and out of, though Mega Man will eventually submerge completely inside. The main water hallways has spikes on the ceiling and bottom, so timing your water jumps is crucial. In one room, the stage shows off its unique set-piece: Mega Man exits the water from above when falling down, but strangely the water is floating above him as if affected by anti-gravity. This water also moves up and down, tasking Mega Man with timing his jumps so he can cross a bed of spikes.
This is one of the stages were a Beat Plate can be acquired, and thus the stage's color palette changes upon revisiting.

Valuable pickups to look out for:
Eddie: After the upside-down water room and a room with Pookers. The only thing in this room is Eddie, who will randomly provide a big health energy, a big weapon energy, a 1-UP, or an E-Tank. If the player doesn't like what they get and doesn't take it, they can re-enter the room to have Eddie provide the player another valuable pickup.
Plate: After the Squidon, there are two boss doors to enter: the bottom one is the normal one to take and doesn't require anything. The top one is only accessible by using the Jet Adaptor to cross a large gap, and thus rewards the letter upon defeating Centaur Man in this room.

In the Rockman 6 manga, Centaur Man's base is named Innocent City (イノセントシティ Inosento Shiti). In the end of the area Rockman finds two shutters and goes inside the lower shutter, and after a difficult battle against Centaur Man, he discovers that the Centaur Man he defeated was a dummy robot and he is warped outside the base, needing to invade the base again to fight against the real Centaur Man, this time going inside the upper shutter.

Trivia[]
- Centaur Man's aquatic-themed stage may be a reference to the lost city of Atlantis, rumored to have been near Greece.
