Area Grab, known as Area Steal (エリアスチール) in Japan and Steal in the first English Mega Man Battle Network game, is a Battle Chip from the Mega Man Battle Network series. When used, it steals all panels in the closest row in the opponent's side, turning them into the user's panels. If Area Steal is used when an opponent is standing in one of the target panels, the panel will not be captured, with the opponent taking damage instead. Stolen panels return to normal after some time, and they can be recovered sooner with other Area Steal. When facing a fast opponent that constantly moves between panels, using multiple Area Steals at the right time can temporarily leave the target stuck in a single panel. However, this strategy can be dangerous in multiplayer as one could retaliate with Grab Banish or Grab Revenge.
As Rockman.EXE WS has a different gameplay, Area Steal has a different effect, increasing the NetNavi's speed.

MegaMan NT Warrior anime series[]
Unlike the video games where Area Steal converts the enemy’s tiles into the players tiles, allowing them to stand on them, in the anime Area Steal functions as an ability that quickly transports a NetNavi from their current position to another instantly, apparently teleporting them. It is often used by Navis to quickly teleport in front of their opponent to get the upper hand.
