He worked at an environmental research center in Antarctica before turning against humanity. Avalanche Yeti makes his lair in the Central White stage, which takes place in a snowy plain and ends at the research center where X and his companions fight him.

Yeti surrounds himself with a snowy aura, then jumps and charges diagonally towards the player twice. This attack freezes the player on contact, which can be broken out of early using Escape Capture.

MMX8 AvalancheYeti Hyouryuushou Hyouryuushou (氷龍昇 "Ice Dragon Rise")[5][6]
Yeti dives into the snow, following the player before rising with a surprise uppercut. He may perform this move multiple times consecutively, diving back into the snow after each punch.

MMX8 AvalancheYeti SnowCrampons Snow Eisen (スノーアイゼン Sunō Aizen)[5][6]
Avalanche Yeti's Overdrive attack, used once per battle. He retreats to a corner to launch a gust of snow from the vents on his back, causing giant snowflake projectiles to flutter down from the ceiling for the remainder of the battle. The Snow Eisen will freeze their victims upon contact, but can still be destroyed.

  • Like Gravity Antonion and Gigabolt Man-O-War, Avalanche Yeti has only one stage theme, while all the other Mavericks in Mega Man X8 have two.
  • When X and his companions defeat Yeti in the Boss Rush section of the Gateway stage, the snow appears to swallow him completely. In his original battle, Yeti only sank partially into the snow upon defeat.
