The B Fan (Bファン, B Fan), or Basho Fan (バショウファン, Bashō Fan), is an unlockable weapon for Zero and Layer in Mega Man X8. It is a pair of tessen fans developed from a Rare Metal found in Gravity Antonion's stage. They are a defensive weapon ideal for fighting against ranged attackers.

Description

Compared with Zero's other weapons, excluding the Σ Blade, B Fan's moveset is the closest to the Z-Saber, having the same three hit combo on the ground, but the combo does not increase with Chips, and it has a slightly shorter range. When standing still, Zero poses as the fans deploy an energy shield around the user, deflecting low-damage projectile shots. Once Rekkyoudan is obtained, the B Fan gains an ability called Zekkyoudan that makes it so reflected projectiles can actually hit and damage enemies.

Trivia

• The name of the B Fan is a reference to the "Princess Iron Fan", which is also written as "Bashō-sen" (芭蕉扇, lit. "Banana Leaf Fan").
