Break Dash (ブレイクダッシュ Bureiku Dasshu) is Pluto's Special Weapon from Mega Man V. When the player holds down the B Button, Mega Man will dash forward with a short burst of speed, damaging enemies in his path with a shoulder tackle. When the B Button is held down longer until Break Dash is fully charged, Mega Man's dash will be considerably longer. If used without charging or in midair, he will simply fire uncharged Mega Buster shots. Break Dash can be used to destroy certain walls, including many that lead to rooms containing Proto Man.

What distinguishes Break Dash from earlier melee weapons such as Top Spin and Charge Kick, which are often looked down upon due to a high risk of sustaining contact damage from a target, is that Mega Man is not only invincible during the dashing animation of a Break Dash, but he also gets an additional second of invulnerability after the attack ends, allowing him to either escape the situation with impunity or to begin charging another dash. Because the invincibility period lasts longer than it takes to prepare a half-charged attack, a player with good timing can chain half-charged Break Dashes together to create an indefinite loop of invulnerability.

Break Dash is Uranus's weakness, but because the earthquakes caused by his frequent jumps will prematurely end Mega Man's attack, it can be difficult to land. It's also the secondary weakness of Venus and Jupiter and one of Ballade's secondary weaknesses alongside Salt Water.

Pluto uses his Break Dash during his fight after his straight fireball attack on the ground, dashing straight forwards to the opposite side of the room, then dashing upwards at an angle, then dashing upwards again in the opposite direction at an angle. Afterwards, he throws homing fireballs. When Pluto uses the Break Dash, he gets shrouded in flames that dissipate when he stops charging.
