"Straight Firing Napalm."
―In game Pause Menu, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
"This powerful leg weapon launches hot napalm, but leaves you open."
―In-game text, Mega Man Maverick Hunter X

Bumpity Boom (バンピティブーム Banpiti Būmu) is a Leg-type napalm weapon that is available for Vile by default in the game Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. When equipped, Vile shoots a grenade out of his knee that rolls along the ground and explodes after it goes a preset distance. He can shoot them from the air as well (but they explode at a preset distance, not necessarily when they hit the ground). Bumpity Boom cannot be used while moving; Vile has to stand still in order to use it. The player can use this while on a ladder, but Vile will fall off the ladder as a result.

Bumpity Boom is available from the start of the game along with two other weapons: Cherry Blast and Front Runner. X takes a decent amount of damage from Bumpity Boom.

Etymology[]

  • Bumpity Boom refers to the rumbling explosion this napalm creates.

Trivia[]

  • The attack and its firing pose are likely in reference to Cyborg 004, Albert Heinrich's anti-air knee missiles. While depictions vary, 004's original manga rendition carried a bloodlust which may have also influenced Vile's personality.
