The Central Computer Stage (中央コンピューター Chū Ō Konpyūtā),[1] also known as the Giant Computer Interior Stage (超大型コンピューター内部ステージ Chō Ōgata Konpyūtā Naibu Sutēji) in Japan, is Magna Centipede's stage in Mega Man X2 and Mega Man Xtreme. It is a large computer hub that Magna Centipede uses to spread the Maverick Virus worldwide. The stage later hosts the final battle with Neo Sigma.

Description[]

Mega Man X2[]

X2 Computer Preview

X infiltrates the Central Computer's fortress to stop Magna Centipede. The stage has heavy stealth elements, including searchlights that will drop Blecker cannons to attack X if he gets spotted. After traversing that segment, X is faced with Installer blocks that try to crush him, a Radar Killer that attempts to steal his data to become stronger, before finally finding Magna Centipede's chamber.

Once X-Hunter Stage 4 is complete, visiting either the X-Hunter Stage or Magna Centipede's stage will trigger the final battle in the room where the first sub-boss, Chop Register, used to appear. Depending on whether the player collected all of Zero's parts or not, the final battles either involve a brainwashed Zero followed by Sigma, or otherwise just fighting Sigma.

Other media[]

Central Computer appeared in the Rockman X2 manga. However unlike the game, in the manga, the final battle with Sigma took place in the X-Hunter Base.

Notes[]

  • After finishing the Opening Stage in Mega Man X2, a machine resembling the Central Computer appears in a location used by the X-Hunters to observe X. The connection of the machine and Central Computer has not been explained.
  • After finishing the X-Hunter Base Stage 4, the music of the Central Computer Stage is changed to the one used for the Opening Stage.
