"What are you doing in a place like this, little boy? It's your bedtime..."
—Cubit Foxtar, Mega Man Zero 3

Cubit Foxtar (キュービット・フォクスター Kyūbitto Fokusutā) is a boss in Mega Man Zero 3. He is a Mutos Reploid based on the Japanese kitsune, and was once the Right Flame Judge (右炎審官 Uen Shinkan)[1][2] of the Eight Gentle Judges.

Characteristics

In his Judge form, Cubit Foxtar appears very feminine, having long white hair and wide hips - however, most sources identify him as a male.[3] His Punishment form is a taller body based on a fox. It has orange armor, a pointed snout and pointed ears, and large feet. He can summon up to nine fireballs at once, reminiscent of the nine tails of the kitsune.

Before Dr. Weil, Foxtar was strict but kind, as shown when conversing with Childre Inarabitta after Elpizo's trial. However, after being modified by Weil, Foxtar was mocking and cruel, saying that the upgrades were "liberating", liking his current personality instead of his previous one.[3] Foxtar looks down on Tretista Kelverian and Deathtanz Mantisk with contempt due to their brutal fighting skills. He prefers to use strategy to defeat enemies rather than head-on fights, using his nine remote control options to disorient opponents.

History

Cubit Foxtar was formerly the Right Flame Judge of the Eight Gentle Judges, participating in the Screaming Interrogation trials. However, when Dr. Weil returned, Foxtar was brainwashed into one of his personal enforcers in the Weil Numbers.

Cubit Foxtar oversaw the Energy Facility, which was secretly being used to develop clones of the Dark Elf such as Baby Elves. He fought Zero to keep the news from getting out and was destroyed, but his death also triggered the deaths of every Baby Elf in storage. This left Zero with no evidence of the facility's dangerous experiments.

Foxtar was resurrected in Weil's Research Laboratory for a rematch. Before his death, he claimed that Zero was not a hero nor the God of Destruction, hinting at the fate of Zero's original body.

Strategy

Foxtar attacks by using a collection of fireballs, which move in complex patterns and can reach the entire room. Foxtar has no melee attacks, and tries to put a distance between himself and Zero by doing double jumps. This tricky move may make the player to mistake one attack for another, and can reach Zero clinging to a wall, causing contact damage.

Defeating Foxtar will give Zero the Double Jump Foot Chip and, if fought at A or S rank, the Soul Launcher EX Skill.

Attacks

Flame Warp Flame Warp Damage: 4
