Cut Man Stage (カットマンステージ) is a stage that has Cut Man as its boss. It appears in the first Mega Man game, its remake Mega Man Powered Up, and Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge.

Video Game Appearances[]

Mega Man[]

Cut Man's Stage takes place within the perimeter of what appear to be an abandoned sawmill, and was originally designed as an easy stage that is helpful for beginners to practice,[1] being also the stage that is selected by default in the Stage Select Screen. As such, most enemies fall under the type of being 'weak but fast and numerous.' This is also the stage with the most amount of Super Arm blocks, which not only foreshadows Cut Man's weakness but gives the player adequate opportunities to practice using Super Arm. The only gimmicks in this stage are two machines, which dispense an infinite number of Super Cutters at the player as long as they are within range. The stage starts with Mega Man needing to dodge Bunby Helis among several ladders and Guts Blocks blocking his path before having to climb up a series of rooms dodging Blasters. After getting past the first Super Cutter, Mega Man will now go up several rooms dodging Adhering Suzies until he reaches the peak of the stage, where he'll then drop down while dodging Mambus that spawn from the right side of the screen and fight a Big Eye at the very end before reaching the boss gate.

The Mega Man: The Wily Wars version of the stage is primarily set indoors, with large windows showing the sky.

Mega Man Powered Up[]

In New Style, Cut Man's stage was modified, and some sections can only be accessed by specific characters or weapons. When playing as Cut Man in his own stage, Mega Man? will replace him as the boss. The stage is relatively the same as the original, with the same obstacles in the same areas that they were in the original, but now in rooms with mostly different layouts and different, more colorful designs for the terrain. There's also a secret area that can be accessed using Hyper Bombs (or preferably Bomb Man) that will grant Mega Man the Bomb Extra pack, as well as other areas that grant various Construction Packs by using different weapons.

In Construction mode, the Scenery Packs Cut Starter, Cut Extra, and Old Cut are based on Cut Man's stage.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • Bomb Extra: Placed in between Break Containers at the end of the secret area that can only be accessed with Hyper Bombs.
  • Trans Special: Placed on a high ledge that can only be accessed by using Oil Slider and hopping the pit to reach it.
  • Fire Extra: Placed behind Ice Blocks that can only be melted using Fire Storm.

Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge[]

Cut Man's stage is fully set indoors, having more detail than in its NES counterpart. However, the stage itself is a lot more difficult because of its usage of the new Cutting Wheel enemy, conveyor belts, and the new Super Cutters. Conveyor belts are unique to this stage and behave as expected, but the Super Cutters are completely different. Rather than coming out of machines, Super Cutters remain inactive and stationary in the air until the player gets close, in which the Super Cutter moves forward a bit before forever flying around in a clockwise circle. They are completely invincible now, but can still be frozen in place by Ice Slasher. Super Cutters appear in the second half of the stage and quickly spike in their placement difficulty.
