- "A bug has corrupted the network. Dive into cyberspace and exterminate it."
- ―Stage description, Mega Man X4
Cyber Space (サイバースペース Saibā Supēsu) is Cyber Peacock's stage in Mega Man X4. It is a maze of tests that exists only in cyberspace.
Description[]
Cyber Space Area 1[]

The first half of the stage. It consists of three time attack areas that test the player's abilities.
At the beginning of each area, virtual crosshairs will target and follow the player, starting the time. The crosshairs needn't be worried about, as they are of no threat. In fact, the displays on the crosshairs actually help the player keep track of their current rank. "Hurry Up!" appears in the crosshair if the player is taking too long, followed by chevrons that point downwards to symbolize that the rank has gone down.
In the end of each area, the crosshair will move to a purple portal and a certain rank is given to the player. Ranks can be determined by the player's performance, such as how fast they clear the area and how evasive they are, as enemies like Miru Toraeru will slow down the player. In order to progress from one area to the next, the player must obtain rank "A" or "S". If the player's rank is "B", they will repeat the area until the required rank is met.
In addition to ranks, while "A" is the most desirable to progress, a rank of "S" can be earned to grant passage through a small extra area which holds no enemies, but instead has items. Each area has, respectively, a Life Up, a Sub Tank, and if playing as X, a Light Capsule containing the Fourth Armor's Head Parts (The former is replaced by a 1-UP at first gate if playing as Zero).
The rank S, A, B colors are yellow, cyan, magenta respectively.
Cyber Space Area 2[]
The second half of the stage consists of two areas, the first as a final trial, the second as the final approach to Cyber Peacock. In this area, there are buttons that switch all objects between the ceiling and the floor, including Protectons which roll down slopes or fall down and clear purple roadblocks. The player must use these switches and Protectons to their advantage if they expect to proceed to Cyber Peacock's lair.

Rockman X4 manga[]

The Cyber Space in the manga.
Cyber Space makes an appearance in the 9th chapter of the manga, Diving (潜行).
Zero is standing at the edge of a cliff over water, deep in thought. He is wondering how he should move forward, seeing as how he always acts alone even though he is being hunted as a Maverick now. He remembers that Iris has saved him twice now.
Suddenly, one of Iris's comrades from Repliforce comes and informs her that their colleague Murada has been infected by a virus from the virtual network, seriously harming him. His body has been turned into a giant square block. This is all because a possibly sentient virus has corrupted the virtual network.
Iris had been using this network as part of her work as a nurse to help those injured in the ongoing war between Repliforce and the Maverick Hunters, and as such was able to help save Zero's life. To repay the debt he owed to Iris, Zero offers to have his own A.I. sent virtually into the network and into a free-moving simulator body in order to rid the network of the bugs and the malicious presence infecting it. After destroying many of the bugs in the virtual network, Peacock uses his powers to make Zero hallucinate and relive past memories, particularly memories he had forgotten, of his past as a Maverick.
Peacock finally appears after Zero asks him to come out. Peacock asks if he wants to stay and be his friend, but Zero retorts he was never good at making friends and attacks Peacock. Peacock easily evades and gets the upper hand in the fight, all the while mocking Zero for having memories he has forgotten. Peacock, however, is angered when Zero stays silent and refuses to listen to his taunting anymore, and fires his Tracking Shot feathers at him. Zero easily destroys every one, and confidently says he doesn't need to worry about a forgotten past, nor an unforeseen future, only the present, and injures Peacock with his saber. Peacock then vows that he won't let Zero leave the Cyber Space and does a "suicide bomb" attack, erasing himself and then spreading the erasure to the entire network in an attempt to permanently trap Zero in the virtual world. However, Zero is able to escape just in the nick of time.
Unfortunately for Iris, Peacock's suicide attack also affected the computer screen from where she was monitoring Zero's activities in the real world too, making it explode right next to her, infecting her with the bug and seriously wounding her which put her into a coma.
Project X Zone[]
Cyber Space is the setting of Chapter 20 from the crossover game Project X Zone. This is incidentally the chapter where X and Zero join the party and where the team first encounters Vile. It also appears in the sequel, this time with both Vile MK-II and Sigma making an appearance.
