Dark chips have started to spread in the streets again. This time, the dark chips are disguised as normal chips, and people continue to use them as convenient chips that improve the performance of Navis, which results in Navis becoming addicted and going out of control, causing incidents. Netto and Rockman wonder why this is happening even though they defeated Regal, and they rush to track down the dark chip factory. Meanwhile, Raika from Sharo has come to Japan for a top-secret mission.[1]

Summary[]

At Neo WWW’s base Tesla declares she’ll once again spread Dark Chips through the Cyber World and spread confusion and fear to all. Inukai volunteers to lead the next operation and brings Saiko along with him. Afterwards, a train has been hijacked and is speeding towards another train. As it turns out, the conductor navi was infected with a dark chip and caused the train to speed. Rockman attempts to cure the Navi, but is overpowered and unable to. Searchman steps in and deletes the navi, Raika explaining that they believed it was necessary if it meant ensuring the safety of the passengers. The train’s dashboard dispenses a dark chip disguised as a recovery chip. The two take it back to The Ministry of Science where Yuichiro analyzes it and they discover it’s a new kind of dark chip manufactured for the current PET model. The three report to Commissioner Kifune, who informs them that Meijin is leading an investigation into the resurgence in Dark Chips. As the call wraps up, Raika and Yuichiro head off to perform another assignment, much to Netto’s curiosity and confusion.

At the Game Soul arcade a kid plugs in what he believes to be a Recov300, only for it to be a Dark Chip and his Navi loses control, breaking the net battle machine. Meanwhile similar things occur with a construction crane and amusement park rides. Netto investigates the scenes and notes that each Dark Chip has been disguised as recovery chips, causing the public to unknowingly use them. Netto vents to Meiru about it afterwards when they notice almost everyone around them have a new robot dog assistant called Bao Wao. Meiru explains to Netto that recently the prices have dropped as they’re being mass produced. Netto thinks this is weird and gets lost in thought. Meanwhile, at The Ministry of Science, Raika is seen in the box used for creating a contained Dimensional Area telling Yuichiro that he’s ready.

At the factory producing the Bao Waos, Inukai and Saiko sell a briefcase of Dark Chips to a worker. He thanks the two for selling him the chips as they’ve been allowing production to go much faster and cheaper. However, the two reveal their ulterior motives when they demand the factory be turned over to them and Saiko uses Flashman to hypnotize every worker in the factory. Netto sneaks into the factory to see if he can find any use of Dark Chips when he realizes no one is noticing him. He realizes that the workers are completely mindles, not even reacting to when he’s directly in front of them. He manages to find the surveillance system and spots the use of dark chips making production faster and being inserted into the Bao Wao’s bodies. Netto reports to Comissioner Kifune and he tells Netto he’ll send him backup. While waiting for said backup, Netto plugs Rockman into the manufacturing system, where Rockman realizes not just the Navis, but the whole system is infected. However, before he can destroy the origin of the issue, he’s attacked by Beastman.

Netto struggles to help Rockman as Inukai and Saiko walk in to order multiple Bao Waos to attack Netto. While fighting them off, Netto drops his PET onto a conveyor belt, having to run after it to prevent it from being destroyed all while being chased by the Bao Waos. Rockman struggles against Beastman without Netto sending him chips. When Netto is cornered, he takes a risk and jumps over a railing, holding onto it to prevent his fall and causing the Bao Waos to jump after him and fly into a machine, causing it to break right before it crushes his PET. However, Netto is stuck dangling from the railing, which is about one story high. Inukai tells Netto that it’s over, but shots fire from warp holes, removing the darkness caused to the systems by the dark chips. The machines stop production, confusing Inukai and Saiko. Beastman, realizing the infected cores have been destroyed, plugs out. That’s when Raika bursts through the doors on a motorcycle, sliding to a halt.

Inukai and Saiko use their dimensional chips in retaliation to Raika’s sudden entrance, however, Raika dodges a slash from Beastman and reveals a synchro chip. A dimensional area is called and Raika performs Cross Fusion for the first time. Netto is shocked and jealous at Raika’s skill and ability to take on two asteroid navis without struggle. Raika manages to defeat the asteroid navis, causing Inukai and Saiko to flee and for the hypnosis to wear off around the factory.

Back at The Ministry of Science, Netto complains about Raika now being able to perform Cross Fusion and reminds him that he thought it was unnecessary. Raika, however, explains that although he doesn’t like it, under threat of asteroid beings and the redistribution of Dark Chips Cross Fusion is a necessity afterall.
