"Stories of you Class S Hunters have always fascinated me... Now let's see if you live up to your name!"
―Depth Dragoon, Mega Man X: Command Mission

Depth Dragoon (デプスドラグーン Depusu Doragūn) is a boss in Mega Man X: Command Mission. He is a Maverick Hunter stationed at the Far East HQ, serving Colonel Redips.[1]

Characteristics

Depth Dragoon has a rather strange appearance of an armored, seahorse knight sitting atop a fish-like lower body that appears to be based on a oarfish. He is mostly green and red in color, and wields a lance shaped like a squid called "Krakel" and a shield shaped like a jellyfish called "Kragen".[2] When encountered on dry land, Depth Dragoon can hover weightlessly over the ground thanks to hover technology on his oarfish that expels cold air to keep them afloat.[3]

Personality-wise, Depth Dragoon acted confident in himself as a dispenser of justice, based on comments such as "The guilty shall be punished!" in his boss battle. He fought against X's party partially to fulfill his duty to Colonel Redips, but mostly because he wanted to see if they lived up to the legends of Class S Hunters.

History

Mega Man X: Command Mission

Depth Dragoon is a Reploid who was originally designed to maintain the deep-sea cables necessary in the construction of Giga City.[3] At some point, he joined the Maverick Hunters and was stationed at Far East HQ.[1]

Depth Dragoon obstructed the path of X's party in Far East HQ, who had been wrongly branded Mavericks at the time and were seeking justice from Colonel Redips. Dragoon believed the propaganda that X's party were traitors, and was interested in testing the Hunters' reputation of S Class. He fought them, but was apparently not destroyed, as his body remained totally intact after the explosion.

Powers and Abilities

Depth Dragoon fights with his lance, shield, and ribbonfish mount, and his elemental alignment is Thunder. Dragoon stays in the back, casting lightning and other ranged attacks, while his ribbonfish mount performs physical attacks and can Bind the party with Electromagnetic Field. He notably does not use his lance and shield for any direct attacks.
