Dive Missile (ダイブミサイル Daibu Misairu) is Dive Man's Special Weapon. It fires amphibious homing missiles that can lock onto nearby targets, chasing them down before striking. It was originally used to catch big fish before being remodeled for combat.[1]
Appearances[]
Mega Man 4[]
Dive Missile is used by Dive Man in combat, and Mega Man obtains it after Dive Man's defeat. Dive Missile uses 1 weapon energy unit. With a full weapon energy gauge, Mega Man can use 28 Dive Missiles. It is Drill Man's weakness.
The homing system of the weapon is a bit quirky and unpredictable, so the weapon requires more precise timing than most others to use properly. A notable case is when using the weapon against Taketentos: if the shot is timed improperly (and sometimes even when timed right), the missile will either do a series of completely unnecessary spirals before belatedly hitting its target, chase after the rotor portion of the enemy, or fly straight off the screen without locking onto any target.
Mega Man III[]
Dive Missile functions like its appearance in Mega Man 4, being obtained from Dive Man and being effective against Drill Man. Dive Missile uses 1 weapon energy unit, but as the game's gauge is smaller, Mega Man can use 19 Dive Missiles with a full weapon energy gauge.
Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters[]
Dive Missile is obtained by the player that takes the Special Weapon Item dropped by Dive Man after he is defeat in the "Rescue Roll!" course. It is Slash Man's weakness. Unlike it's 4 and III counterpart, the missile is replaced with a torpedo (Hence because Dive Man is meant to represent a submarine) and will track the boss/enemy's trajectory while staying perfectly straight.

Mega Man (Ruby-Spears)[]
Mega Man uses Dive Missile in the Mega Man animated series, not through copying the weapon, but using Water Wave to direct it at Dive Man, and then copying the actual weapon. These missiles are larger, with a much more powerful warhead. In addition, the schematic only shows a propeller in the missile, and it was never used above water.
Mega Man Megamix[]
Dive Man's Dive Missiles are mobilized by a screw propulsion system, and are equipped with both active and passive sonar systems. Despite all of these features, the Dive Missiles function in almost complete silence. When fighting out of water, the missiles switch to a jet propulsion system, and they also have the added feature of a laser tracking system.
Mega Man Archie Comics[]
Dive Missile makes a brief appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog Issue 250 during the Worlds Collide crossover, where Dive Man attempts to use it against Sonic the Hedgehog. However, the Hedgehog proved to be too fast to get a lock on him when he fired, causing it to head towards Drill Man instead, to the latter's horror.
