The DrillComp is the second major Cyberworld location in Mega Man Battle Network 5 and comprises the network of a giant mining drill. Depending on the game's version it is controlled by either MagnetMan.EXE or KnightMan.EXE.

Description[]

The DrillComp is layered like a mine, with conveyor belts and rocky paths. The player needs a DrillProg given by a Mr. Prog in order to progress as it allows them to break through rock boulders of varying hardness. Not only has the player break through these boulders but they must also traverse through conveyor belts which they need to run against or fall into a pit that "resets" the player's location to a specific spot.

Some conveyor belts have rock boulders dropping on the path forcing to player to be quick about breaking them, although others are made so that the player's only choice it is to move quickly between boulders. Later on they will face paths dropping several boulders making travel impossible unless the machine dropping them is turned off.

Story[]

When Lan Hikari and his friends go to the Oran Island to have fun, they decide to explore the mines, but due to the drill's activity the floor weakens and Lan's friends fall into a pit and are eventually trapped with the drill mining directly over them as rocks begin to fall on them. Lan finds either Tesla Magnus or Princess Pride operating the drill for Magnometal. Lan pleads with either to stop the machine. Tesla refuses to help as she is too angry and too focused on relieving working stress to think rationally, whereas Princess Pride cannot help as KnightMan went berserk. Regardless both instruct Lan in how to stop the drill.

Lan jacks MegaMan.EXE into the drill's blocks to slow the machine down traversing a tricky path full of rocky boulders and conveyor belts and comes to face directly against either MagnetMan or KnightMan. If facing MagnetMan, Tesla will learn that Lan is the culprit behind incarcerating her father which in turn gave her severe working stress for an extended time and decides to take it on the duo. If facing KnightMan, Princess Pride pleads MegaMan to stop KnightMan's rampage. MegaMan manages to fight either Navi sufficient time to relieve enough stress out of Tesla or helping KnightMan come to his senses, the switch is turned down.

When Lan tries to open an electronically locked door, MegaMan triggers a trap that has boulders raining on him but is protected by MagnetMan/KnightMan's defensive abilities. Having found a way to deal with the gun batteries blocking the path to Oran's Liberation Mission Lan requests the help of either operator and its Navi, which they agree to do.
