Elec Man (エレキマン Erekiman) is a Robot Master from the original Mega Man. He was created by Dr. Light to control the voltage of nuclear power plants. At the time of his creation, Elec Man was often hailed as Dr. Light's greatest creation and boasts razor-sharp judgement, as well as a physical agility that would not be matched until the creation of Quick Man, who is in turn based on his design. His Special Weapon, the Thunder Beam, fires off devastating bolts of very high-voltage electrical energy in multiple directions, with sufficient power to go through multiple enemies with one shot and even break through solid rocks.
In terms of personality, Elec Man is conceited and egotistical, with something of a sadistic streak in him (which is especially present in Mega Man Powered Up), but is otherwise very responsible, smart and competent. In his spare time, he has taken up playing the electric guitar while singing. Fitting for his motif, he also despises products made of rubber.
Physical appearance
Elec Man is an average height robot with blue eyes, gray eyelids and a black, red and yellow suit or armour. He sports a black helmet holding a yellow mask with a lightning bolt motif, his upper body is enterely red, covered by a black chest plate with a lightnig bolt in the center and yellow cuffs around his wrists, and his lower body is black, holding yellow boots.

Mega Man
In the first game, Dr. Wily reprogrammed Elec Man and Dr. Light's other industrial robots to help him conquer the world. Mega Man fights against Elec Man and defeats him.
Strategy
Elec Man is a difficult boss to beat. He runs fast and jumps around the room, often stopping to shoot a single Thunder Beam, and less often shooting one when jumping. The Thunder Beam is very dangerous, as it has a very large hitbox and cuts Mega Man's health for about a third of his maximum HP. However, the beam can be avoided if jumped over it with good timing, especially if standing on the left side of his lair (since there is a pair of Guts Blocks in it). However, it is worth mentioning Elec Man can still reach Mega Man there if he jumps.
Elec Man is vulnerable to attacks as he suffers knockback when hit by one, so the player can attack him and escape to get in a better position to avoid the Thunder Beam. They can also exploit this by shooting at him as soon as he stops and raises his arms to shoot the beam, then shooting at him when the invincibility period ends, though this does require precise timing.[2]
His weakness is the Rolling Cutter, which takes him out in three hits; however, it is a short range weapon and should be carefully used against him. It also does not allow for the exploit above as it takes some time to return to Mega Man before he can fire it again.
Another tactic, in which the player can avoid the Thunder Beam completely, is difficult to pull off, but doable. The player needs to lure him to the left edge of the arena, on top of the Guts blocks. Drop down below the Guts blocks, and stay there. From this point forward, Elec Man's movement pattern becomes predictable. He moves a little and fires the Thunder Beam. By staying below the Guts blocks, the Thunder Beam won't hit you. As soon as the Beam has passed Mega Man, jump and shoot a single shot on Elec Man. He will be pushed back, then he repeates the pattern. Repeat this until he is defeated. The difficult part is the luring, but if one succeeds, Elec Man is simple foe to defeat.
Mega Man Powered Up
Since it is a remake of the first game, Elec Man appears as a boss, but he also becomes a playable character if Mega Man beats him using only the Mega Buster. In New Style Mode, his weakness goes from the Rolling Cutter to the Oil Slider.
Elec Man is portrayed as very calm and noble, albeit arrogant, as well as rather narcissistic and overdramatic. This adds to his morbid side, which is displayed when caught the heat of the moment, as he seems to be genuinely interested in electrocuting the other Robot Masters, and finish his opponents off at "lightning speed". However, he is also very smart, as seen when he faces Mega Man?, since he is able to quickly discern him from the real Mega Man by noting the eyes of the real Mega Man aren't as "clouded like a thunderstorm" as the imposter's.
Strategy (New Style Mode)
Elec Man inherits the same attacks from the first game, but they are slightly slower and notably weaker. The lair on which he is fought also changes in appearance, as one of the Guts Blocks on the left side is now positioned on the right side of his lair (this is carried over to Old Style Mode).
In Normal and Hard modes, he also gains a new attack: the Thunder Bolt, consisting of a lightning striking the screen, trying to hit the player's character where he is standing. Its hitbox is rather small, however, so it is easily avoided by rapidly moving out of its way as it lands. He only does this attack in Normal mode if he reaches half health, but he can do this whenever he wants in Hard mode, as well as doing it three times in succession.
His weakness is now the Oil Slider, but this is somewhat risky as Elec Man may damage Mega Man by contact if he doesn't get out fast. The best way to do this is to jump from the skateboard as soon as the player is certain they will hit Elec Man. He is defeated in a maximum of fourteen blobs, but in a minimum of five hits if Mega Man opts to attack him on the skateboard.
Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge
Elec Man is one of the four stage bosses, his actions being similar to the first game.
Wily & Right's RockBoard: That's Paradise
The Boss Card Elec Card (エレキカード) summons Elec Man to downgrade one of the opponent's buildings.
Mega Man's Soccer
Elec Man is the sixth fastest player in the game and has average Kick and Defense, but his Tackle is the second lowest. In the Capcom Championship mode, a team formed by eight Elec Men in one of the eight team bosses. One Elec Man joins Mega Man's team after his defeat.
In Tournament mode, his team consists of three Elec Men, Ice Man, Bomb Man, Air Man, Bubble Man and Flash Man. In League mode, his team contains three Elec Men, two Gemini Men, two Snake Men and Dr. Wily.
Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters

Elec Man is one of the six bosses from the "Rescue Roll!" course. The power of his Thunder Beam was reduced compared to the first game, but his speed and attacking power, along with new lightning-based attacks, still make him a force to be reckoned with. Even though he was actually one of Dr. Light's creations, the narration indicated that Dr. Wily built him.
Super Adventure Rockman
If Mega Man is defeated by Air Man, Elec Man will appear to save him, giving the player the chance to fight against Air Man again.
Rockman Strategy
Elec Man appears throughout the story of Rockman Strategy, including being with Dr. Wily upon discovering the landing site of Apollo, Luna, and their teammates. He and Spark Man were subsequently dispatched to defend Cancer in Above the Clouds. Later, he joined Pisces at In a Tornado alongside Tomahawk Man.
Chokkan! Rockman
In the mini-game Eccentric! Elec Man (エキセントリック！エレキマン), Mega Man faces Elec Man in a rhythm game.
Rockman ×over
Elec Man is one of the four bosses from World 3. He also appears in some Battle Memory.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U
Elec Man appears as an Assist Trophy, looking more detailed than his previous appearances, akin to the game's depiction of Mega Man. When summoned, he assists the player who summoned him by running and jumping around the stage freely, attacking nearby enemies with his Thunder Beam.

Elec Man appeared in the episodes The Beginning, Terror of The Seven Seas, Mega Dreams and Bro Bots from Ruby-Spears' Mega Man animated series. He looks like his game counterpart, except the eye holes in his mask reveal more than just his eyes, and has large black cuffs with yellow lightning bolts. He is also much weaker than his video game counterpart, often being defeated by Roll's vacuum arm, and even water.
Captain N: The Game Master

Elec Man appears in the fifth episode, "Mega Trouble in Megaland", along with the other original five Robot Masters, working as a subordinate to Cuts Man. He bears much resemblance to a human wearing a skin-tight dark purple suit with yellow boots, and magenta gloves, along with yellow stereotypical teacher glasses.
Mega Man: Upon a Star
Elec Man has a brief appearance in the third episode, being one of the robots that attack Mega Man in the future.

Mega Man (Archie Comics)
Elec Man is a Robot Master created by Dr. Light that was reprogrammed by Dr. Wily, but after his defeat his programming was restored and he became an ally of Mega Man.
Mega Man Megamix
Elec Man is one of the two most prominently featured robots from the original game, along with Cut Man. Acting as the "big brother" of the Light family, he has a very no-nonsense serious personality, though he is shown to have moments of childishness in secret. Throughout the manga, he is slashed in the chest twice. First by Mega Man in "The Birth of Mega Man" with a Rolling Cutter, and again by Quick Man's giant Quick Boomerang in "R Destruction Order".
Elec Man was created to control the flow of power at a nuclear power plant. Due to the dangerous nature of his intended work environment, Elec Man was given improved decision-making abilities as well as faster movement speeds. The power generator contained within his body produces high-frequency electricity, which ionizes the high-frequency electromagnetic field surrounding him. By gathering the electricity inside his body at his fingertips, Elec Man is able to release it as a Thunder Beam. Elec Man had always been a dutiful worker, but after being forced into battle against Mega Man, Elec Man realized that he rather enjoyed combat. After being repaired, Elec Man returned to his uneventful days as an industrial robot.
Elec Man also appears in Mega Man Gigamix. When the Stardroids attacked Dr. Light's Laboratory, Elec Man, Mega Man and Cut Man were separated from Dr. Light and his other robots. Damaged and lost, they barely survived against the Stardroids pursuing them, but they are rescued by the Cossack Numbers.

- Elec Man's weakness to the Rolling Cutter in Mega Man is an allusion to snipping wires.
- Elec Man is Keiji Inafune's favorite Robot Master from the first game, because he was the first robot he ever designed.[1]
- Elec Man bears a resemblance to the 1973 Kyodai Hero character Thunder Mask. Both are robots who use electricity in their abilities as well.
- Elec Man is incorrectly called Electric Man in the instruction manual from Mega Man: Dr. Wily's Revenge.
- Elec Man's design bears a strong resemblance to the Spider-Man villain Electro, and who is also associated with electricity.
- Elec Man is one of the few Robot Masters in the series with the distinction of having the same color and thickness of forearms as the upper arms.
- In Mega Man Powered Up, Elec Man has a very confident, theatrical personality, often speaking highly of himself and his skills. In addition to this, many of his poses are references to the traditional Japanese genre of tokusatsu.
- Elec Man's level theme sounds very similar to "Faithfully" by Journey.
- In Mega Man 2: The Power Fighters, Elec Man's Force Field attack is similar to the Force Field special weapon from Volt Man in Mega Man for the PC.
- The thunderbolt on his mask is inverted in his Mega Man 3 mugshot and RockBoard card.
- Elec Man's dislike of rubber products in his Mega Man & Bass CD data is a reference to how electricity cannot flow freely on rubber, which instead acts as an insulator.
- In a similar vein, Elec Man's weakness to the Oil Slider in Mega Man Powered Up is a reference to how mineral oil does not conduct electricity well.
