Wily Castle (ワイリー城) is Dr. Wily's base in Mega Man 6. After Mega Man defeats Mr. X and learns his true identity as Dr. Wily himself, Wily escapes to this Wily Castle, Mega Man following in pursuit. As with Mr. X's Castle, Wily Castle consists of four parts, each part being a stage Mega Man must go through. Also like Mr. X's Castle, the same music plays for all Wily Stages. The final part of the fortress ends with a battle between Mega Man and Dr. Wily.

This is one of the few Wily Castles that isn't seen being destroyed in the end, possibly due to Mega Man arresting Dr. Wily in the end.

Wily Stage 1[]

Wily Stage 1

In the first stage, Mega Man begins outside the castle, with a red gate and mountains being visible in the background. Similar to the first Mr. X stage, this stage is mostly vertical once Mega Man goes inside, and it's full of spikes and Cannopellers. This time, however, instead of climbing upwards, this level is almost entirely a big vertical drop. During the drop, the caged propellers from Wind Man's Stage return to blow Mega Man around, though this time there are some propellers aiming down, forcing Mega Man down if he passes them. There is also a spike drop, though there is one drone-platform that also comes from Wind Man's Stage. Be ready to jump if Mega Man lands on it. This stage also has a difficult split path to access, where Mega Man needs to preemptively use Jet Adaptor to decelerate his falling and land on a platform to the right. This platform has a breakable block that Power Adaptor can destroy, and this path has a lot of goodies than the normal path does. The normal path requires Jet Adaptor to fly over some spikes, but the secret path has fake floors and walls. The stage's boss is Mechazaurus.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • 1UP10A 1-UP: At the outside area, the second breakable block holds this pickup inside. Use Power Adaptor to break it.
  • ETank1 E-Tank: In the secret path, Mega Man should take the right ladder. The pickup is in plain sight, though Mega Man should hold left because there is a fake floor directly below him that will make him miss out on the pickup.

Wily Stage 2[]

Wily Stage 2

The second stage is an icy stage, having slippery ice that Mega Man should be cautious of. Unlike other games, Mega Man cannot tippy-toe forward on the ice: a single nudge will immediately send him sliding in that direction. Appearing Blocks appear and are unique to this stage, only showing up in one room. This room also happens to be where split paths branch off; the icy walls from Blizzard Man's Stage block the right path and Flame Blast is needed to melt them: each path has their own enemies, but the right path is shorter. The stage's boss is Tank CSII.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • ETank1 E-Tank: In plain sight in the first screen. Use Power Adaptor to smash the breakable block and reach it.
  • ETank1 E-Tank: In plain sight if Mega Man takes the upper path.

Wily Stage 3[]

Wily Stage 3

This is a very short underwater level through the castle's inner moat. However, it can be annoying due to the Yaffus trying to suck or blow Mega Man into spikes, so he should be cautious when approaching spikes. Eventually, he climbs out and enters a capsule leading to a room that contains a rematch against the eight Robot Masters.

The placements are:

  • Top left (Yamato Man)
  • Center left (Plant Man)
  • Bottom left (Knight Man)
  • True center (Centaur Man)
  • Bottom-center (Wind Man)
  • Top right (Blizzard Man)
  • Center right (Flame Man)
  • Bottom right (Tomahawk Man)

Once they are all disposed of, another capsule appears, which simply transitions Mega Man to Wily Stage 4.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

Wily Stage 4[]

Wily Stage 4

The final stage of the game, en route to the final battle with Dr. Wily. It is very short and primarily features a rematch against a Metall Potton from Tomahawk Man's Stage. The game's final boss is a three-phase battle against the Wily Machine 6 and the Wily Capsule.
