Chess Mess, known as I'll Battle You! (ばとったるねん! Batttotarunen!) in Japan, is the 40th episode of the MegaMan NT Warrior series. In the English dub it is the 49th episode. It features the sole appearance of Tora and his NetNavi KingMan.

Synopsis[]

Tora, world-class NetChess Battling Champion and his NetNavi KingMan, have come to DenTech City to challenge Lan and MegaMan Tora never plays for free though, and demands that whoever loses the NetBattle must give their NetNavi to the winner! Lan accepts the challenge, but soon realizes he has no idea how to play chess! Luckily, Maylu does and partners up with Lan. As the incredible battle nears its end, ShadowMan mysteriously appears on a mission to delete both KingMan and MegaMan![1]

Plot[]

At the NetChess tournament in Swapopolis, Tora defeated a giant computer named Deep Gray. Afterwards, ShadowMan, who is secretly behind KingMan, lures Tora into finding Lan Hikari at DenTech City to deleted his NetNavi MegaMan.

After encountering Lan Hikari at Maysa's food stand in a park, Tora expects Lan to fight him in a NetChess tournament. Before the match starts, Tora sets up Chess pieces for MegaMan, Maylu joins to assist Lan in the match and Rush sets up a few more chess pieces for MegaMan and Roll.

As the NetChess battle begin, Tora first moves the knight while Maylu has Roll to command the pawns to move towards the opponent's chess pieces. During the match, MegaMan runs and shoots the Knight piece as it moves back closer to its starting position.

Later, Tora has the chess pieces to eliminate his opponents' chess pieces. Then Roll tries to stop the pieces from advancing by using her Roll Blast attack to slow them down. Then KingMan starts attacking MegaMan and then Roll commands pawn, bishop and knight to surround KingMan but he is still not defeated.

Then, Mega Man runs as he avoids KingMan's Laser Blast attack and shoots his opponent's chess pieces. KingMan surrounds MegaMan with his Chess pieces. As KingMan is about to use his Checkmate attack on MegaMan, Lan inserts Mini Boomers as a shelter against the attack. MegaMan was about to shoot KingMan but he cannot because Roll in the way. Later KingMan attacks MegaMan again, but MegaMan didn't got deleted from his attack.

After the match was over, a giant Scuttzer showed up with ShadowMan on top of it, Tora realized that ShadowMan was the one who lured him into finding Lan to deleted MegaMan. After KingMan pushes MegaMan away from getting attacked by Scuttzer and then logging out, MegaMan transformed into ElecTeam Style MegaMan and merged with Roll. During the transformation, MegaMan deletes the giant virus with Eletro-Aqua Tower.

After defeating the giant Scuttzer virus, Lan and Tora has a brief conversation with each other before they started arguing with each other about which one of them won the NetChess match. The episode ends with Maylu, Dex, Tory, Yai and Maysa leaves Lan and Tora behind as they continue to argue with each other.

Regional Differences[]

  • In the original version of the episode, the narrator stated that Tora is 14 whereas in the English dub, the narrator stated that Tora is 16.

Trivia[]

Statue of Liberty seen in the beginning of the episode.

  • This episode marks the first and only appearance of Tora and KingMan.
  • The Statue of Liberty is seen on the window of the Tsutenkaku Tower where the NetChess tournament took place at.
  • During the match, Tora implimented the Furinkizan, the technique of being swift as the wind, silent as the forest, evasive as fire and ever immovable as the mountain.
