"Promise me something. Let me warn you. You'd better not break this promise! I'll break our BrotherBand if you do! You'd better... You'd better come back."
—Luna, Mega Man Star Force 2

Luna Platz, known as Luna Shirogane (白金ルナ Shirogane Runa) in Japan, is a main heroine in the Mega Man Star Force series. She is the leader of the group consisting of Geo Stelar, Bud Bison, and Zack Temple. As the president of Class 5-A, she is usually addressed as Prez (委員長 Iinchou, President). She’s also a big fan of Mega Man.

Appearance[]

Luna Platz is a young girl with dark green, blonde hair color and has large pigtails. She wears a formal blue dress with a white upper area, an apparent red scarf, a green gem on left top side of her dress, cyan tights with yellow linings and blue footwear.

Personality[]

Luna is shown to be a very perky and bossy person but is actually very kind and considerate. She also comes off as a natural leader, motivating her friends to perform tasks that they're not completely on board with. On the opposite end, when push comes to shove for people's safety, she's willing to put herself on the line to help them. When everyone around her is ready to give up, she's also the first person to motivate them to take action to fix things.

She is, in most cases, a perfectionist, partly due to having parents with incredibly high standards. She is also a very persistent person, trying to convince Geo to come back to school early and fail several times in the first game. Luna has a fondness of cute things like her rabbit-like Wizard named Vogue.

In Mega Man Star Force 2, it reveals she has feelings for Geo and not just Mega Man. If the player looks in the secret section of her personal page after forming a BrotherBand with her, it will say that there is a boy she likes almost as much as she likes Mega Man, which the player will assume to be Geo.

Game history[]

Mega Man Star Force[]

Luna introduces herself as the 5th grade class president, with her 'lackies', Bud and Zack. She runs into Geo, and tries to get him back to school. Luna herself ended up putting in the middle of the many incidents involving FM-ians. She becomes infatuated with this mysterious Mega Man after their first incident with Taurus Fire.

Luna continues to follow Geo wherever he goes to try and get him to warm up to other people. Even getting him to join a school play so he'll step into the school. A play where they re-enact the Taurus Fire incident versus Mega Man with herself as the damsel in distress. After contemplating the words of the people he's met, Geo properly returns to school.

During an incident in the school taking all the students hostage, Geo as Mega Man was overwhelmed with fear that he could not defeat a Jammer G blocking his way. Luna cries out for Mega Man's help, and Geo feel guilty for letting her down. One of Satellite Admin appears stating Luna won't lose hope for him. Geo finally toughens up and vows to protect her, which results the awakening of his Star Force power. He then thanks Luna and declares "I'll protect you... Count on it!", with Luna overhearing him beyond the Wave World. With Pat Sprigs suddenly missing, Luna makes Geo the play's Mega Man and rewriting the script to have Mega Man say the quote she overheard. While performing the play and seeing Geo say those words, for a split moment, she believed the real Mega Man was actually here.

Luna later overheard her parent talking about how her friends are dragging down her potential, and decide to transfer her to another school, which crushes her. On another day, Luna wanted to hang out but was turned down by Bud and Zack due to them being busy. So she tried to meet Geo, albeit flustered by her emotions since the play. Learning Geo was heading to Time Square, she ended up following him and Sonia Strumm on their date, where she encountered her parent. After confronting her parents in front of Geo and Sonia, she runs off and encounters Ophiuca. Ophiuca offers Luna the ability to get back at her parents and they then Wave Change to become Queen Ophiuca. After the incident is resolved, Luna hugs Mega Man as the Wave World deteriorates, giving him no time to escape, causing him to transform back into Geo. Luna is the second person after Sonia to know Mega Man's secret identity and become Geo's Brother. Luna and her parent make condolences and in Mega Man Star Force 3, is said to be in better terms.

When Omega-Xis leaves Geo under bad terms, he enters a slump and Luna and Sonia tried to get him to open up. He ends up breaking their Brother Bands. After Geo made his resolve and reunited Omega-Xis, he saves Luna and gang from an attack, then properly revealing to them all that he's Mega Man. They recreate their Brother Band and Luna continue to support him as he goes off to stop Andromeda.

Mega Man Star Force 2[]

In the early parts of the game, her and the gang (Geo, Bud, and Zack) go to different locations to hang out. Unfortunately during the first trip in Wilshire Hills, she is kidnapped by Dark Phantom and taken to the top of the IFL tower. She is eventually saved by Mega Man. The gang later heads to Grizzly Peak to enjoy the winter resort, but being angered at the boys for favoring their new friend Amy Gelande, Luna stays within the hotel room for the entirety of the trip. Completely missing out on Yeti Blizzard's attack.

When Solo attacks Echo Ridge, he spirits away all of Geo's friends to provoke him. Luna was the only one Mega Man was able to rescue. As Geo has given up all hope and believing he's lost his friends for good, Luna declares they rescue them. As all their BrotherBand are still intact, meaning they're still alive somewhere. Geo still refused.

Just as Luna was about to attempt to convince Geo again, she is kidnapped by Dark Phantom to lure Geo out. He also reveals that some of Ophiuca's data is still inside her, unlocking her heart to force her to become Queen Ophiuca. After Geo defeated her, he was almost consumed by the OOPArt's power. He told Luna to run as he is about to lose control, but she refuses. Luna insisted that she will stay by Geo's side no matter what and support him whether she can do something or not. Comforted by Luna's words, Geo calms down and the Link Power between the two activated, nullifying the OOPArt's mind invasion. The OOPart spirit noticed Geo's plight and taught him how to use the Tribe On power. With this new drive, they begun searching for their friends.

They discover their friends have been sent all over the globe and the two travel to get them back:

  • Zack was sent to Loch Mess in Netopia, who refused to go home until he proved to himself that he's as much worth as the other three in their group. Luna states that Zack is already one of her closest friends in the world, and that's enough to be proud of.
  • Bud was sent to Whazzap in Netopia, who lost his memory and idolized by the people as the great Budicus. When Bud was knocked unconscious, Luna had to use a Ginger Beef bowl and an embarrassing sweet talk to awake Bud and restore his memory.
  • When Mega Man encountered Harp Note, attacked by her, and walks away with their enemies, the boys in the group were ready to write to her off as another foe. Luna rationalizes her attack as an act in order to protect Geo and talks about how hard it must be for her. She tells Geo to trust Sonia and he goes off to find her.

When the group gathers one last time before Geo head off to face Dr. Vega and her Le Mu, Luna motivates the gang to stay strong and pray for Geo's return.

Mega Man Star Force 3[]

Luna is shown partnering with a Wizard named Vogue. However, she does not use it to Wave Change, as Vogue is not a battle Wizard and clearly states that she finds combat terrifying. Throughout the game, Luna and the gang tried to campaign for her as the school's student body president. They create a team called "Luna 4 Prez", known as "Luna Luna Brigade" (ルナルナ団) in Japan. A new student named Jack joins the class, who is distant with the rest of the class. Much like Geo in the past, she continuously tried to invite him to connect with people.

After Jack and Queen Tia reveal their true identities in front of Mega Man, Luna suddenly walks in due to the panic on the island and discovers their identity as well. Then Joker, as an attempt to show Mega Man will grow stronger through the anger in her loss, delivers a sucker punch attack, and destroys Luna.

Sonia, Bud, and Zack all are distraught in losing Luna, but Geo claims she's still alive as their BrotherBand is intact. It's revealed that she is somewhat alive, scattered into six fragments of EM waves, the Luna Frags. With the help of Ace, Acid, and Dr. Goodall, Geo is able to find Luna's data and bring her back to life. She was completely unaware of being deleted. Later in the game, she states thanks to Geo's and everyone else's effort that she is alive and owes Dr. Goodall, implying that she's aware of the events that happened.

During the final day of the student body president campaign, Jack Corvus attacks the school and eventually reaching the rooftop where the campaign in. All the students ran away and cower in fear but Luna stands up to him. Hoping to stall before Mega Man arrives, she challenges Jack's beliefs. After the incident was over, Luna was announced as the new student body president. She declares her first act is for the teachers and students to form a Team with the Purpose, "Create a School Where Everyone is Happy".

In the Alohaha chapter, if the player chose to save Luna's handkerchief (revealed to be gifted from her mother) instead of the others, a scene will play out between the two. Luna holds his hand and they both blush. When Geo asked why she's holding his hand, she claims knowing Geo was probably worried about falling in the ocean. Geo apologizes he's not as cool as Mega Man, but Luna told him not to say that as he too has grown a lot. She then talks about how she can't fight alongside Geo, like Sonia does. He then states that Luna is already fighting along with him, and continues to mention the times she was always there giving him support. Continuing to say, if it wasn't for her, he probably would have given up being Mega Man. When Geo drops a mention of being told that a new fight is about to start, Luna worries if what he's been told is true. Ultimately Luna says she'll fight alongside Geo in her own way.

Anime history[]

In the anime, Luna became infatuated with Mega Man after he saved her life, though she was unaware of his secret identity. Her infatuation becomes a fangirl-like obsession, even creating schemes to try to see her "hero", such as ordering a lot of packages to herself in hopes Mega Man would deliver them (prior to that, Geo had taken it upon himself to deliver several wrong address packages after a virus attack in the mail sorting facility, with one of his stops being Luna's house) these end up failing.

It was because of this weakness that she is targeted by Ophiuca during one of Sonia's concerts, taking advantage of Luna's desire to see her hero and her jealousy over Harp Note, who she believes may be romantically involved with Mega Man. However, Ophiuca could not take full control because of Luna's love for Mega Man, such as when she tries to hug him by constricting him. This, in turn, gave Mega Man and Harp Note an advantage, since Ophiuca and Luna kept switching between each other, thereby preventing Ophiuca from using her full power, allowing them to defeat Queen Ophiuca.

After witnessing Mega Man change back into Geo as the result of one of Andromeda's attacks, she goes into self-denial of seeing it even though Zack and Bud were present at the time. Luna refuses to accept Geo and Mega Man as a single being despite Bud and Zack's words and meeting Omega-Xis. However, in the last episode of Tribe, she calls him Geo whilst in wave change form.

At one point, Luna at her attempt to win Mega Man's affections, decides to learn how to cook. After initial catastrophic failures (e.g. food poisoning), she apprentices herself to Hope Stelar. Eventually she succeeds at cooking a Mega Man-inspired bento lunch box, much to her hero's surprise. Later in the Tribe anime, Luna's cooking skills have developed to a level that tempts Geo to try and steal one of her confections.

Manga history[]

Luna appeared in the Shooting Star Rockman 3 manga, with a role similar to the game.

Trivia[]

  • Luna's pigtails are meant to resemble bunny ears. Her name is the Latin word for the moon and in traditional Japanese folklore the markings of the moon were believed to be a rabbit pounding ingredients for mochi (rice cakes) with a mallet. The fact Luna's name has to do with the moon is most likely how her character design came to be and why her Wizard, Vogue, is a rabbit.
  • In an early promo art, Luna wears a green Transer for Dragon Satellite and in-game her Brother Force provides the Dragon Sky Mega Class card.
    • In the anime, Luna wears a red Transer for the Leo Satellite. And while Luna was reading her horoscope, she read out Leo's fortune; this could either mean that it's a fortune based on the Leo satellite (which she is connected to) or that she was born in between July 23 and August 22.
  • The anime eliminates the stripes on her leggings, for ease of animation.
  • In the anime, Luna reveals that she wears contact lenses, due to how she asked Geo to help her find it at one point at school. An cell phone official illustration also shows her wearing glasses.
  • Official illustrator, Ryuji Higurashi, states he initially thought of her filling the role of a Yai-like character, but saw her as a main heroine after playing the game. He even draws Mega Man Battle Network’s main heroine, Mayl Sakurai, on the side of a facial expressions sketch.[1]
  • Her appearance somewhat resembles Sherrice from the Japan-only mobile game Rockman.EXE Legend of Network.
  • Coincidentally, Luna's Japanese voice actress voices another character named Luna from the Pokémon series.

  1. “ HIGURASHI: As might be expected, we had to draw the illustrations for "Star Force 1" before playing the game, so I imagined Luna would fill a role similar to Yai's in "Battle Network". But after playing the game, I started to see her more as a main heroine of the story, and that influenced her look a bit in "Star Force 3". In addition to that, it probably has something to do with the fact that I got better at drawing cute characters over time. “ -MM25 pg.431
