Neo Arcadia Core, also known as Area X (エリアX) and Neo Arcadia Headquarters (ネオ・アルカディアの本部), is the final stage of Mega Man Zero. It is Neo Arcadia's headquarters under the rule of Copy X.

After its destruction, the stage is reconstructed in Mega Man Zero 3, now called Area X-2 (エリアX-2).

Description[]

"Area X" is the global denomination for a series of vital bases from Neo Arcadia scattered across the world. They are located at the tip of orbital elevators stretching from the surface.[1] This is one the Area X bases, a central command center located on a stationary satellite at an altitude of 3600km. It governs all of Neo Arcadia's unmanned space stations.[2] Zero invaded the base from the Neo Arcadia Tower at the center of Neo Arcadia to stop Neo Arcadia's leader, Copy X.

After Copy X's defeat, he activates the base's self-destruction in an attempt to take down Zero with him, but Zero is rescued by the original X. The base's destruction allowed the Resistance to use satellites for precise wireless transfers in the same way as Neo Arcadia, no longer needing to rely on a wired transfer system.[1]

Stage[]

Area X[]

This entire stage is comprised of a gauntlet of enemies as well as the iconic Boss Rush against eight bosses, which is split into two rooms. The first part of the stage is a short segment consisting of a mass of Pantheons, leading to the first boss rush room with four Mutos Reploids.

The second part has an array of Pantheon Warriors and Seal Cannons, as well as a secret area with a large Life Energy and a Z Panel, which then leads to a shortcut to the second boss rush with the Four Guardians.

The final area is clustered with Top Gabyoalls, more Pantheons and a few other enemies. Proceeding through the boss door, the remaining Guardians and the showdown with Copy X awaits.

Area X-2[]

The Area X-2 (エリアX-2) is Copy X MK. II's stage in Mega Man Zero 3. It is a reconstruction of Area X after Copy X self-destructed the last one in an attempt to kill Zero. When Zero retaliates against Copy X's three-pronged assault on the Resistance, he fights Copy X in his recreated throne room. When Copy X loses, he tries to transform again, only to be betrayed by Dr. Weil and killed again.

Trivia[]

  • The bosses Aztec Falcon and Hanumachine are absent from the boss rush, possibly because it would increase the total number of bosses fought, which would be above the usual eight in most Mega Man games.
