Icy Invention... de koff!? (氷の発明･･･でコフ！？ Kōri no hatsumei... de kofu!?) is the 15th episode of Rockman.EXE Stream. It aired on January 15, 2005 in Japan.[1] It features the debut of Asteroid ColdMan.EXE.

A large number of Navis have disappeared all over the world. In Ameroppa, Enzan and Raul begin the investigation, while in Japan, Netto begins the investigation. Thanks to Rockman and Meijin, they discover that the method used is data compression, but they are unable to identify the culprit. Enzan and Raul then decide to stage a stunt to lure out the culprit. But who is the culprit? And what is his purpose?[1]

Summary[]

At a screaming competition, Blues and Thunderman compete to see if they can find out what is causing Navis to disappear at competition. Despite Blues and Thunderman ranking first and second respectively, nothing happens. Raul and Enzan are disappointed that it was all for nothing. Hunter goes over the previous competitions around the world that resulted in Navis disappearing out of thin air, but they can’t place their finger on what may be causing it. Afterwards, Raul trains with Thunderman, using the Electric Grid system given to them by Enzan.

Meanwhile in Japan, Netto and Rockman arrive at a contest where the same situation has just occurred. Rockman mentions that it’s cold and spots a small square on the floor. Netto gets a call from Enzan, discovering they’re both working on the same case. However neither of them know anything new, so Enzan hangs up. Rockman and Netto take Rockman’s findings to Meijin, to which they discover the Navis are not disappearing, but rather being compressed. However, Meijin has never encountered this method of compression so he can’t decompress the Navis without risking damaging them.

In an apartment back in Ameroppa, Ivan Korisky completes his compression method. Ivan’s method is to freeze dry data to preserve them the same way food is freeze dried. He thinks back to when he quit his job and was approached by Slur, who granted him Asteroid Coldman. Slur tells Ivan that Coldman will help with his research, allowing him to complete his compression method. However, despite this Ivan appears unsatisfied, stating that money isn’t what he wants out of this.

Netto calls Enzan to inform him of the new discovery. Netto is trying not to laugh at Enzan and Raul’s disguises while informing them that Meijin is looking into the new compression method, but he fails miserably. Enzan and Raul run into Yuichirou, who’s preparing to return to Japan soon. Yuichiro briefly explains that the Trilovirus they previously encounteredCalling on Colonel! had come through a time portal from the past. However, Yuichiro assures Enzan that he’s come up with a way to deal with the viruses and changes the topic to their current case. When the two tell Yuichiro they don’t have a plan, Yuichiro gives them the idea of luring out the perpetrator with a situation too good to pass up. Enzan thanks Yuichiro as he comes up with a plan.

Raul and Enzan in disguise create a fake advertisement revealing a new unbeatable compression method. This angers Ivan, who smashes his screen and finds where the two were broadcasting. He plugs Coldman in and finds Enzan and Raul, confronting them and demanding they stop lying. He declares his method is the better method after Raul and Enzan provoke him just long enough to confirm he’s the perpetrator. The two reveal they’re Net Saviors and police surround the area, however Ivan has Coldman save him, freezing the building and causing an icicle to almost crush the duo. Ivan takes off and Coldman convinces him to use the dimensional chip to allow his escape.

As Coldman begins freezing officers, Enzan calls Hunter for a Dimensional Area. He tries to protect the officers and Raul by keeping Coldman’s attention on himself. Meanwhile Raul plugs Thunderman into the building's system to stop the viruses Coldman has left that were causing the building to freeze. When Raul realizes they won’t melt the ice off the system in time, he remembers the Electric Grid that Enzan gave them and used it to melt the ice. Enzan manages to delete Coldman and Ivan is arrested. With Coldman’s deletion all the compressed Navis are decompressed and returned to normal.

Raul and Enzan approach Ivan as he’s taken away in handcuffs. Raul demands to know why Ivan would do such a thing, to which he explains it wasn’t for money, but recognition for his thirty years of research. His research had been terminated at his job, so he had quit out of frustration. He wanted to leave a long lasting impact, but Raul yells at him saying that he’s gained the worst kind of fame, now being a criminal. The episode ends with Raul and Enzan getting an email that they’re wanted to represent Ameroppa in the Shout Contest World Championship.
