The Knot Beret (ノットベレー Notto Berē) is a type of enemy from Mega Man X4, reappearing slightly modified as the Shitappers (シタッパーズ Shitappāzu) in Mega Man X5. They are rotund, humanoid soldiers of Repliforce.
Characteristics[]
Knot Berets are Reploids with round bodies and short statures. They serve as the main infantry of Repliforce, fighting with small firearms and grenades. When the Sky Lagoon came under attack from Mavericks, Knot Berets were among the Repliforce troops spotted at the scene, and inexplicably attacked the Maverick Hunters who arrived to help save the city. This may have been what caused the authorities to believe that the Repliforce was behind the attack.[1]
Since the Knot Berets worked for Repliforce, they also worked with the Reploid Air Force led by Spiral Pegasus, a remnant of Repliforce.
Knot Beret B[]
The Knot Beret B (ノットベレー B Notto Berē B) appears in the first part of Sky Lagoon, Military Train, and Space Port in Mega Man X4. They attack by throwing grenades at the player. The "B" likely represents their brown color scheme or, potentially, their bomb weapons.
Knot Beret G[]
The Knot Beret G (ノットベレー G Notto Berē G) also appears in the first part of Sky Lagoon, Military Train, and Space Port in Mega Man X4. They attack by shooting spherical rounds from their handguns. The "G" likely represents their green color scheme or, potentially, their gun weaponry.
Knot Beret S[]
The Knot Beret S (ノットベレー S Notto Berē S) appears in the first part of Snow Base in Mega Man X4. They slide down icy slopes on snowboards, ramming into the player to deal contact damage. This is made worse by the crumbling snow platforms they appear on, which can drop the player onto the spikes below. The "S" likely represents their snowboards or their deployment in snowy areas.
Shitappers[]
The Shitappers (シタッパーズ Shitappāzu) appear in the Reploid Air Force Stage in Mega Man X5. They function identically to the Knot Berets: the blue ones wield guns akin to the Knot Beret G, and the yellow ones throw grenades akin to the Knot Beret B.

- Knot Berets appear in the Rockman X4 manga defending Slash Beast's train alongside Batton Bone B81s and a Raiden.
- Knot Beret S appears as an enemy in Mega Man X DiVE.

- Shitappers is the same Japanese name as the Birdbots from the Mega Man Legends series, which can be translated as "underling".
