Laguz Research Laboratory (ラグズランド研究所) is the penultimate area in Mega Man Xtreme 2. It is the main Reploid engineering laboratory for Laguz Island, and has been converted into the personal fortress of Berkana and Gareth. It is composed of three different stages.

Laguz Research Lab 1
Once all of Laguz Island's guardian Mavericks are defeated, Gareth challenges X and Zero to finally storm their lab. This first segment is quite similar to Sigma Stage 2 from Mega Man X, featuring moving platforms and purple windows. About halfway through, the stage gains some more unique elements, such as waterfalls and spiked floors. Finally, there is a hallway similar to Boomer Kuwanger's Tower Stage until the boss room where Velguarder awaits.

Laguz Research Lab 2
The second stage is reminiscent of X-Hunter Stage 1 from Mega Man X2, featuring lavender floors and Probe 8201-U types. There is also a vertical climbing segment featuring dangerous electric nets along the walls, and a horizontal segment featuring the rising fire from Tunnel Rhino's Underground Stage. The boss arena at the end features Isaz and Sowilo.

Laguz Research Laboratory 3[]
The third stage opens with a short platform segment before Berkana and Gareth appear to confront X and Zero. Berkana explains that they will split up, with Berkana going to a higher room and Gareth going to a lower room, allowing the Maverick Hunters to choose who to go after. X decides to face Berkana while Zero faces Gareth; the player will take the route of the character being used when they split.
In X's route, he passes through an area with more electric nets and also the dangerous rushing water from Volt Catfish's Hydroelectric Power Plant Stage. There is also an opportunity for X to find the Light Capsule containing the Shotokan upgrade. He then fights Berkana. Meanwhile, Zero passes through a sewer-like area full of waterfalls and moving platforms before fighting Gareth.
While one Maverick Hunter defeats their respective opponent, their partner defeats the other (this means they cannot both be fought in the same playthrough, and the Hunters cannot be switched in their segments). In Extreme Mode, Sigma then reveals himself, being fought in Sigma's Hideout.
