The Laser Trident (レーザートライデント Rēzā Toraidento) is Splash Woman's special weapon from Mega Man 9. It shoots out trident heads that deal two points of damage, similar to how Wave Man shoots harpoons, but faster. Up to three tridents can be shot in quick sucession. The trident pierces enemy shields like those of the Shield Attacker RX, Sniper Joe and Met. It also destroys block barriers that often protect items or branching paths and objects "frozen" by Concrete Man's Concrete Shot, such as magma barriers. Since it is stronger than the standard Mega Buster, it can also be used as a primary weapon for dealing with most enemies because of its low weapon energy cost.

This weapon is Concrete Man's weakness, and can break through his concrete blocks. It is also the weakness of all three phases of the Mega Mech Shark, and also does two points of damage to Splash Woman herself.

  • For "Spike Shooters" and Wily Machine No. 9's first phase, both bosses do not have data for them because they must be damaged with their own weapon or obstacle -- the Laser Trident cannot inflict damage to them directly.

Two Laser Trident shots cost one weapon energy unit. It can be fired fifty-six times with a full weapon energy gauge.

Bosses weak against Laser Trident

  • During production, Mega Man's color scheme for Laser Trident was two different shades of green.
  • Similar to the Thunder Bolt from Mega Man 7, Mega Man's color scheme when using this weapon has an uncanny resemblance to the Bad Box Art Mega Man.
  • The fact that Mega Man takes more damage from the Laser Trident than any other boss weapon could be a continuation of Mega Man's seeming weakness to electric-type moves, such as Elec Man's Thunder Beam and Plug Man's Plug Ball.
