This is a list of Life Up (and other related items) locations found in each Mega Man game.
Mega Man X series[]
Mega Man X[]
Snow Mountain Stage (Chill Penguin) | |
---|---|
After the Ride Armor section, use the tall pillar as a boost for a dash jump to reach the top of the cave. Destroy one of the "Tombot generators" there with the Fire Wave to reveal the item. | |
Airport Stage (Storm Eagle) | |
Dash jump from the topmost lift in the beginning to reach the top of the tower at the very beginning of the stage. | |
Power Plant Stage (Spark Mandrill) | |
Hidden in a top corner after one of the "blackout" areas. Use Boomerang Cutter to snag the item. Alternatively using a dash jump, wall kick off the nearby wall to get in range of the ledge so another wall kick can get X up onto it. | |
Factory Stage (Flame Mammoth) | |
In the large open area, underneath a platform at the rightmost corner. Defeat Chill Penguin to cool the lava to safely reach the item. | |
Gallery Stage (Armored Armadillo) | |
Destroy the second Mole Borer (Storm Tornado or Fire Wave is recommended) before it digs through a huge part of the mine shaft. The Life Up is sitting on a small ledge in that shaft that can only be reached if the Borer didn't destroy the rocks that can be used for a wall-jump. It's also possible to hug the wall on the right side and slide down, X will just barely get by without damage, but he has to be fast to get to it this way cause of how close he is to the Mole Borer. Fire Wave or Storm Tornado are the best choices to destroy the Borer very quickly. | |
Ocean Stage (Launch Octopus) | |
When X comes to an area with a huge closed hatch and bombs floating down, use a nearby tornado generator to reach the Cruiziler above water that was firing the bombs. Destroy the Cruiziler to sink it and destroy the hatch. In the new area, defeat Utuboros to open the room containing the item. | |
Tower Stage (Boomer Kuwanger) | |
Clearly visible in the outside of the tower. Either use Boomerang Cutter, ride a charged Shotgun Ice, or do an "iceless jump" to reach it. | |
Forest Stage (Sting Chameleon) | |
Just outside the cave entrance, go down into the pit. Use the Foot Parts to smash the small rocks; the Life Up will be on the other side. Defeating Launch Octopus will fill the pit up with water, allowing easier access to the item. |
Mega Man Maverick Hunter X[]
While the Life Ups appear in the same location from the original when playing as X, they are found in different places in Vile Mode:
Abandoned Missile Base (Chill Penguin) | |
---|---|
Continue past the Tombot hives to find a Ride Armor. Return to the very first hive on the ground and destroy it to reveal the Life Up. | |
New-type Airport (Storm Eagle) | |
Use the first Flamer's platform to climb on top of a glass tower, where the Life Up awaits. | |
Electromagnetic Power Plant (Spark Mandrill) | |
At the end of the hall after Thunder Slimer, the Life Up is on a ledge in the top right. It can be retrieved with Quick Homesick or by jumping out of a Ride Armor. | |
Prototype Weapons Plant (Flame Mammoth) | |
The top left wall of the large chamber has a ledge with the Life Up in it. Can be reached by jumping from the chamber's highest platform and extending Vile's airtime with aerial attacks. | |
Energy Mine Ruins (Armored Armadillo) | |
In the outdoor segment, use one of the moving platforms to find a ledge with the Life Up above the boss shutter. | |
Subterranean Base (Launch Octopus) | |
Defeat Cruiziler so it sinks and opens the floor below. Descend to find an Utuboros, and defeat it to access the Life Up. | |
Fortress Tower (Boomerang Kuwanger) | |
During the elevator segment, jump onto the final spiked platform before it is destroyed, and use it to reach another platform with the Life Up in the top left corner. | |
Recon Base Ruins (Sting Chameleon) | |
Use Quick Homesick to retrieve the Life Up hidden in the tree at the very start of the stage. Alternatively, stand on an Axe Max's tree projectile and jump to reach the Life Up. |
Mega Man X2[]
Volcanic Zone Stage (Flame Stag) | |
---|---|
The item is in plain sight during the rising lava section, guarded by a Bar Waying. Using a single uncharged Magnet Mine is the quickest way to destroy it. | |
Dinosaur Tank Stage (Wheel Gator) | |
After the Ride Armor segment, the Life Up is sitting on top of a wall of spikes. Use an Air Dash and charged Speed Burner to reach the item. Alternatively, get damaged by an enemy's projectiles to the right of the Life Up and quickly use the invincibility frames to climb the spikes. | |
Deep-Sea Base Stage (Bubble Crab) | |
In the area where the Sea Canthller shows up, jump to the right wall and climb to the top, then dash to a platform floating in the water. A ledge holding the item can be reached here. It is possible to obtain this without any Armor Parts. To do so, wait until the rocket platform that allows to kick up it in order to have the Life Up in a reachable position. The player must be able to kick off of the large wall (It is much easier to press the dash button at the exact moment the jump button is pressed.) and then avoid hitting the roof as this will end the jump prematurely. This way may take practice and timing, but it doesn't involve wasting Weapon Energy. If performed correctly, X will reach the rocket platform and begin to slide down. The Life Up is easily reached from here. Alternatively, come back after defeating Bubble Crab and using a charged Bubble Splash will make it easier to get due to the increased jumping power underwater while this ability is still in effect. | |
Robot Junkyard Stage (Morph Moth) | |
Use a Crystal Hunter to freeze the Disk Boy 08 just outside the building. With the frozen enemy as a platform, the building's wall can be reached, with the item at the top. | |
Central Computer Stage (Magna Centipede) | |
Take care not to get spotted by the searchlights. In the next area, there are large moving blocks. Use a charged Speed Burner to reach the Blecker on the ceiling, and climb that to reach the item. | |
Energen Crystal Stage (Crystal Snail) | |
Hidden in a pit early in the stage. The only way to reach it is a long dash jump and hover in the Ride Armor along with using an uncharged Strike Chain or Giga Crush (due to its ability to allow X to slightly rise in the air). | |
Desert Base Stage (Overdrive Ostrich) | |
On a bed of spikes just before the Foot Parts. A Ride Chaser can run over the spikes easily, but an air-dash and charged Speed Burner can pull it off, only riskier. | |
Weather Control Stage (Wire Sponge) | |
Right at the beginning of the stage, in a hidden gap at the wall to the left. |
Mega Man X3[]
Frozen Town Stage (Blizzard Buffalo) | |
---|---|
Located under a large pile of ice blocks. They can be broken with either the Tornado Fang or a Ride Armor. | |
Quarry Stage (Tunnel Rhino) | |
A passageway to the right early in the stage. A charged Triad Thunder is needed to break the rock blocking it. | |
Airborne Aircraft Carrier Stage (Gravity Beetle) | |
Buried beneath a stack of crates near the start. It will be cleared away after Blast Hornet is defeated. | |
Power Control Center Stage (Volt Catfish) | |
At the top of one of the elevator shafts, atop an electrified spike pit. Easily reached with a dash jump off the wall and safe to slide down to. | |
Giant Dam Stage (Toxic Seahorse) | |
Wall kick the first waterfall to the top; the item is on a small ledge beyond. | |
Safari Park Stage (Neon Tiger) | |
At the very end of the stage. Ride on the Tombort to get there. | |
Weapons Factory Stage (Blast Hornet) | |
Located just after the cargo ship mid-boss before the boss room. Use the Foot Parts to boost up to the wall and climb up it to find the item. It is also possible to obtain the Life Up without the Foot Parts by using Tornado Fang to recover the Ride Armor Chimera, which allows X to reach the wall. However, the player only has one chance with the Ride Armor as it disappears from the area after being unlocked. | |
Shipyard Stage (Crush Crawfish) | |
After the first area, where a Hamma Hamma smashes through several floors, there will be a cracked wall on the right side. Use a Ride Armor to bust through it. |
Mega Man X4[]
Jungle (Web Spider) | |
---|---|
Area 2. Hidden in a burnable tree trunk. Rising Fire/Ryuenjin is needed. | |
Bio Laboratory (Split Mushroom) | |
Area 2. After the staircase section, the item will immediately be visible at the top of the screen, guarded by a Tentoroid BS. Wait for the Tentoroids to destroy the floor to reach the item with Lightning Web. | |
Cyber Space (Cyber Peacock) | |
Area 1. Pass the first "test" at the best time possible. Soul Body is recommended to make this easier, as it can easily destroy Miru Toraeru. | |
Air Force (Storm Owl) | |
Area 1. Grab the item sitting on a Metal Hawk before it's destroyed by the first overhead laser. | |
Volcano (Magma Dragoon) | |
Area 2. A high-up ledge in the area where enemy Ride Armors begin appearing. Lightning Web or Zero's Kuuenbu are the easiest ways to get it. Jumping out of the Ride Armor Raiden at the right moment when jumping next to it will also work. | |
Marine Base (Jet Stingray) | |
Area 1. Near the beginning when there is a ramp visible over normal ground. Instead of jumping onto the ramp, stay on the ground. | |
Snow Base (Frost Walrus) | |
Area 1. In the area with the disappearing ice blocks, the item will be visible overhead on a solid ice block. Destroy the block with Rising Fire/Ryuenjin. | |
Military Train (Slash Beast) | |
Area 2. Using the Ride Armor, destroy all the train cars. Cannot be missed. |
Mega Man X5[]
Life Ups in Mega Man X5 are only granted to the character that obtained the item. Besides the eight Life Ups in stages, there are eight Life Ups/Energy Ups that can be chosen during Alia's debriefing after defeating a Maverick at Lv. 04 or higher. As most of the stage Life Ups require X's Armor Parts to reach, if players want to use Zero, it is recommended to balance the Life Ups he receives from Mavericks with X's to balance the two's Life Energy amounts.
Runaway Truck Stage (Crescent Grizzly) | |
---|---|
After obtaining the Gaea Armor, try to reach the top of the largest trucks. The item is sitting on a bed of spikes. | |
Deep-Sea Submarine Stage (Tidal Whale) | |
In the sunken ship, part of the ceiling can be broken with Tri-Thunder/Denjin. Climb through to find an alternate path with the Life Up. Alternatively, use the Falcon Armor or Gaea Armor to climb up the spikes before the final drop and access the path backwards. | |
Super-Electromagnetic Lab Stage (Volt Kraken) | |
At the end of the stage, there's a puzzle room with a set of switches. The Gaea Armor is needed to move some blocks. | |
Planetarium Stage (Dark Necrobat) | |
In the second area where the gravity can be flipped around. Cannot be missed. | |
Reploid Air Force Stage (Spiral Pegasus) | |
Last area with a bomb. Cannot be missed. | |
Laser Institute Stage (Shining Firefly) | |
Before entering the castle, drop down just before the drawbridge which contains the item on a bed of spikes and an injured reploid to the left. | |
Magma Stage (Burn Dinorex) | |
At the very beginning of the section with the rushing lava. Instead of proceeding right, go left to reach a pit that houses the item and a 1-UP. | |
Jungle Stage (Spike Rosered) | |
Near the beginning, instead of climbing up the vines, use the Gaea Armor to move the "V" blocks to the right. The item will be in plain sight in this secret area. |
Mega Man X6[]
There are a total of 16 Life Ups and 8 Energy Ups in the game. Besides eight Life Up collectibles in the stages, each stage also has one Life Up and one Energy Up that are carried by specific Injured Reploids.

When the player comes to a fork, take the bottom path, then drop down a pit before a Nightmare Virus. | |

Recycle Lab (Metal Shark Player) | |
