The game world of Mega Man ZX is divided into areas, and each one is assigned a letter of the alphabet and a descriptive subtitle. Each area is also divided into multiple segments, each assigned a number. On the map, areas colored blue frame are part of Innerpeace, while areas colored red frame are part of the Outlands.

The game world of Mega Man ZX Advent is similar to that of Mega Man ZX, featuring multiple areas, usually each split into segments of four. The areas lack alphabetical organization, but instead have specific names. The map does not distinguish between Innerpeace and Outlands. The circle colors of area correspond to the element of the boss: null element boss is purple, fire boss is orange, ice boss is light blue, and thunder boss is green.
