Publisher's summary[]
The Blue Bomber is back! MEGA MAN returns in five connected 1-shot comics spanning five different eras of robotic heroes! In this first issue, the original Mega Man squares off against two explosive and fiery Robot Masters bent on city-wide destruction! Fight, Mega Man! For everlasting peace![2]
Plot[]
Dr. Wily ordered two of his robots to retrieve the Double Gear System prototype from Mega Man, and one of them decides to cause chaos in Symphony City to call Mega Man's attention. Rock and Roll are watching TV when the news show that several explosions are happening on the city, and a picture of Mega Man appeared in a wall. Seeing this as a challenge, Rock awakens Rush and changes into Mega Man, using Rush Jet to travel to the location.
Blast Man removes his cloak and attacks Mega Man as soon as he arrives. Torch Man tells Blast Man to stop as he wants a fair one-on-one fight against Mega Man to test his strength, but Blast Man refuses Torch Man's request. Upset, Torch Man burns his cloak and reminds Blast Man that he is in the one in charge of the team, so he should do things his way, but Blast Man ignores him. After Mega Man is hit by a large Chain Blast, Torch Man argues with Blast Man for not fighting like a true warrior, disliking how he turned Mets into bombs. Blast Man mocks Torch Man and sends a Met to detonate near him, taking him by surprise. Blast Man goes after Mega Man, finding him protecting Rush, and they resume their battle.
After Blast Man is apparently defeated by Mega Man, Mega Man notices a Met and reacts by pointing his Mega Buster at it. Torch Man asks him to not harm it, as the Met was not a warrior like them and it was damaged. Torch Man himself was also severely damaged and stuck in precarious rubble, and Mega Man tries to help him out, with Rush soon joining in the effort. All Torch Man can do is apologize for Blast Man's actions and his inaction regarding it, and that it was foolish of him to think that he should extinguish Mega Man's light to make his own shine. Torch Man was unconsciousness by the time Mega Man and Rush finished removing the rubble, and Mega Man repairs the nearby Met by using a piece of his own helmet. After the Met leaves, Blast Man reappears for another round.
