Mercury Stage is a stage that appeared in Mega Man V that has Mercury as the boss.
Description[]
Being one of the first four stages, it is located on Earth. Mercury's stage takes place inside a trash compacting factory, and has many mechanical gimmicks. The first of which are Conveyor Belts unique to this stage. They are slow in their conveyor speed, but unlike most other conveyor belts, these ones actually change directions on their own within a consistent interval, every 6 seconds. There are also chutes in the ceiling, unique to this stage, that dispense small cans straight down. The cans can act as harmful hazards if they fall on top of Mega Man, but they can also be dropped onto conveyor belts and become platforms to stand on or get in Mega Man's way. They can also be destroyed if desired. Two rooms have spikes placed in areas where Mega Man is likely to fall onto from above, but they can be avoided by falling straight down for the first room (after a room with P-Chips), or hugging right/left for the second room. The stage also has a big set-piece unique to this stage: one room has a flat floor that moves up and down in steady intervals. However, it can easily crush Mega Man against the lower ceilings if he is caught under them or gets knocked into them, so he must stand inside the safe spots. It is similar to the giant presses in Dust Man Stage, only flipped upside down.

Valuable pickups to look out for:
P-Chips: A total of 26 P-Chips (2 large and 5 small) can be found and collected within this stage.
1-UP: In the next horizontal room after the giant floor-press room. It is guarded by a G.S.Q., which must be defeated in order to grab this pickup from the left. Alternatively, if the Mega Arm is enhanced to grab items, it can be grabbed from the right side without having the fight the G.S.Q.
E-Tank: Right after the 1-UP room. This pickup rests at the end of an upper area along with 3 small P-Chips. To get it normally, Mega Man has to slide under 2 spikes, though these spikes are placed away from each other, and Mega Man will have to get out of his slide quickly after he passes the first spike so he doesn't his head on the second spike. Alternatively, Mega Man use an enhanced Mega Arm to grab all the pickups without having to slide under any spikes.
Trivia[]
- One of the stage's enemies, Tamp, is an enemy who only appears once in the entire game.
