  • I'm pretty sure Bass already existed before Dr. Wily and Dr. Eggman.  I'm refering to the end of the main story of Sonic Universe #50 in which Dr. Eggman is describing Mecha Sonic's new partner as a Base Villain like himself (if you consider that Bass' name is pronounced as Base).

    • Maybe Eggman was refering to Copy Robot? He appears in Sonic Universe #51.

From what I understand, it's because of the properites of the Skull Egg Zone that they were able to create him. The events of Eggman and Wily's meeting as recored in Mega Man #24 occurred before Universe #50. Ian did this because so far as the Mega Man comics go, the events of Bass' creation have not yet transpired in canonicty.

    • Yeah, but #50 of Universe is before they rewrite reality as it takes place before Sonic the Hedgehog #247 and Mega Man #23. As for canon, yeah Bass first appeared in MM7, but looking at the following details:

      - Pharaoh Man, Concrete Man and Splash Woman appear much early in the comics  #23 even hints to Bright Man being in development.

      - Protoman didn't debut until MM3, nor was he hinted to beforehand, and yet his backstory hints to him being there since the beginning.

      - Wily was in prison at the beginning of MM7, and likely unable to build anything.  As such, Bass has to at least have existed during 6, if not before.

Plus, it'll be a while before MM7 is adapted, so presuming that something happens to cause Mega Man and crew to lose their memories from the crossover, Ian could have him appear much sooner.  In the process, build up his status as a supposed ally to make his evental betrayal more dramatic. • Agree with Copy Robot, "base" in the sense of "based on". But if Eggman was referring to Bass, maybe the events from Mega Man #20 made Bass travel to the original timeline?
