Metal Anchor (メタルアンカー Metaru Ankā) is the Special Weapon that Mega Man X gains from defeating Metal Shark Player in Mega Man X6.

In normal fire, X sends out an anchor that bounces about for a while before self-destructing. Up to two Metal Anchors can be on the screen at once. When charged, a barrage of metal replicas shaped like Storm Eagle rain down that travel in a diagonal pattern across the screen. If X is hit at any time the charged attack is executed, the attack will be interrupted and Weapon Energy will be wasted. Metal Anchor is the only weapon in X's arsenal that can destroy the otherwise indestructible Nightmare Iron blocks that can found in certain stages.

This weapon is the primary weakness for Shield Sheldon, Nightmare Mother and Sigma's first form.

Trivia[]

  • The replicas of Storm Eagle raining down may be a reference to Metal Shark Player using DNA resurrection, as Storm Eagle is "resurrected" from a previous game. A possible reason to have Storm Eagle as the weapon's charged version could be due to the fact that Storm Eagle fought Sigma before he reluctantly joined Sigma's force after his defeat.
