Metonger Z (メットンガーZ Mettongā Z) is a boss in Mega Man 6, being the boss of Mr. X Stage 3. It is a large robot tank controlled by a Met. Except for the cockpit, the tank's armor is made of a super alloy that can repel any attack. Ironically, the boss never uses its giant arms to attack.

Mega Man 6[]

Attack Pattern[]

The fight first starts with the Metonger Z being unpiloted, though a Met flies into the cockpit using a small hovercraft. During the fight, the floor is always scrolling rightwards at a slow speed, which affects Mega Man's movement but not the boss's. Metonger Z uses its tank treads to simply move and left along the room, though it will never try to squash Mega Man against the left side. It can either move at a slow speed or a fast speed. Once it has finished moving once or twice, it will stop to attack. Metonger Z has 2 attacks: each being a trio of orange orbs shot from its mouth, though they are fired differently. The first variation is to shoot the orbs straight forward, and given the boss's height, they will fly right over Mega Man's head if he stand still. The second variation is to shoot the orbs in bouncing arcs, similar to the second phase of Wily Machine 2. Since they are shot from the same position, Mega Man can simply hide underneath the orbs as they bounce over his head, though he will have to keep repositioning himself because of the moving floor.

Weakness[]

Metonger Z is weak to Blizzard Attack, which does 3 damage and defeats it in 10 hits. However, Mega Man will have to use the entire bar of ammo for it as Blizzard Attack costs 3 ammo for each use. As with all bosses, Metonger Z takes 3 damage from a fully-charged buster shot, which may be better to use if Mega Man does not want to waste Blizzard Attack. Metonger Z also takes 4 damage from a fully-charged Power Adaptor punch, though since the boss can move quickly on a dime, it is not recommended.
