Model ZX (モデルZX, Moderu Zekusu) is the "Ultimate Mega Man", a Double Megamerge from the Mega Man ZX series. It is formed when a Mega Man uses Biometal Model X to Double Megamerge with Model Z.

Design

When Doublemerged with Model X, the user dons a costume resembling Zero's appearance. The helmet is slightly larger and more streamlined. Like the other Megamerged forms, the helmet features an arrow-shaped crystal that stretches from the crest to the back of the head and is colored cyan. The user also grows synthetic blond hair with appearance distinct from Zero and Girouette. Unlike the other Biometals, this fusion grows artificial hair similar to Zero. Vent's hair when using Model ZX is more linear, while Aile's hair when using Model ZX is curved and more natural.

History

Mega Man ZX

Vent/Aile Double Megamerging into Model ZX.

Model ZX was first formed after Girouette's death at Serpent's hand. He bestowed Model Z upon Vent/Aile, allowing them to use it in conjunction with Model X to Double Megamerge and fight off the encroaching Mavericks. They use Model ZX for the rest of the game, rendering their Model X Megamerge obsolete in a gameplay sense. While Model ZX is treated as its own form by name, Models X and Z are still separate Biometals and must always be used together for the user to become the Model ZX Mega Man.

Mega Man ZX Advent

Vent/Aile continues to use Model ZX while leading the Guardians' hunt for Model W. They fight Grey/Ashe in this form, resulting in Model A copying their DNA to let the player access Model ZX via A-Trans. Since Model Z stays behind on Ouroboros to let Vent/Aile escape with Grey/Ashe, it's possible Vent/Aile no longer has access to this form by the game's ending.

Power and abilities

Model ZX combines the abilities of Models X and Z, giving the user both short-range and long-range attack capabilities. It plays quite similarly to Zero from the Mega Man Zero series, featuring a three-slash combo with the ZX Saber and three charge levels with the ZX Buster. It is a well-rounded form that is suitable for most situations, especially direct combat.

While Model ZX lacks an Overdrive in Mega Man ZX, it has one in the manga, granted to Vent after he is empowered by the energy of the entire world. His armor shines and his hair extends the same way as when he first Double Megamerged. The ZX Saber grows drastically, allowing Vent to cleave Serpent with one blow.

Other appearances

• Model ZX appears in Battle Memory from the social RPG Rockman ×over, fused with Vent/Aile.
• Aile can temporarily transform into Model ZX as one of her Active Skills in Mega Man X DiVE. Her older Mega Man ZX Advent appearance, wielding Model ZX by default, is also a separate Hunter Program.
• In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Model ZX as well as Model X appear in the form of Spirits. Model ZX is an enhanced form of Model X, available once Model X reaches Level 99.
