Should not be confused with Net Mobile Grand Prix!, an episode from the first season with a similar theme.

Navi Car Race! (ナビカーレース! Nabi Kā Rēsu!) is the 7th episode of Rockman.EXE Stream. It aired in Japan on November 13, 2004. It is the debut episode of Rei Saiko and Asteroid FlashMan.EXE.

Plot[]

Japan’s first Net Navi Car Race is being held, and companies from across the world are attending. Rockman and Blues represent IPC in the race and have to avoid the sabotage attempts of Team Shine’s Flashman.

Summary[]

The episode starts at a stadium with a race car being revealed with Rockman inside. Midorikawa explains on the news how it’s the country’s first Navi driven car race, with cars made for Navis rather than humans. Midorikawa interviews Rei Saiko and Enzan about their companies and rates of winning. At the end of the news segment, Midorikawa announces that twenty cars will be racing in five days.

Enzan and Netto are together while Enzan checks how the final preparations are going for the cars. While commenting on how good of a fit Rockman was for the race, Enzan tells Netto he doesn’t need to be there, and explains how all that’s needed is a Navi to drive.

While Enzan is going over what companies and countries are participating in the race, a race car is seen malfunctioning. Saiko yells at his navi, Shineman.EXE, for doing a bad job as his boss enters the room to check how things are going. After reminding Saiko that their reputation is at stake, one of Saiko’s backup cars explodes right after his boss leaves. Saiko is then seen in a dark room at his computer, frustrated about what had happened and blaming Shineman for the loss of the backup car. It’s then that he’s approached by Slur, who replaces Shineman with Flashman.

The Preliminaries end as IPC’s racers tie for first, and Saiko’s car comes into fifth. As the racers are guaranteed their place in the final race, Netto and Enzan comment on how they can’t underestimate Team Shine. Afterwards, Netto brags to Meiru, Tohru, and Chisao about being in the race, to which they dismiss Netto’s importance, or lack thereof, in the race until he offers them workers' passes.

Midorikawa announces the harsh conditions and obstacles of the race before the race begins. Netto worries about not knowing the course beforehand when his friends come to cheer him on. Rockman is plugged into the car and starts his preparations when Roll comes to wish him good luck. Blues, who is doing the same, is wished good luck by Iceman, to which he then dismisses and tells Iceman that it’s dangerous in there.

Right as the race begins, Netto and Enzan start running to the service station to prepare for when the race cars will stop for servicing, with the rest of their friends following behind. When Flashman’s car is only in tenth place, Saiko questions Flashman as to what’s going on, to which Flashman tells him to wait. Flashman then hypnotizes the driver in front of him using flashing lights, causing them to crash into a wall. The race cars are then expected to drive onto the ocean, their vehicles adapting to driving over water. Saiko continues to yell at Flashman, angry about what place he’s in when Flashman reminds him it’s just the start of the race and that he’ll win. He then attempts to hypnotize Blues, which doesn’t work as he manages to look away, and Rockman gets his attention.

When IPC’s vehicles make it to the service station, Blues informs Enzan of what had just occurred, noting there was no proof but that he believed that Team Shine’s flashing lights were causing the accidents. Enzan instructs Blues and Rockman to turn off Team Shine’s display to avoid the possibility that it would cause them to have accidents. At Team Shine’s station, Flashman assures Saiko that the other teams are nothing and that he will have the victory. Flashman mentions how their main problem would be IPC’s vehicles, but that if he can get those cars out of the race, they will win.

The race continues, and Flashman attempts to hypnotize Rockman and Blues, but fails when they turn off their rear displays. In response, Flashman speeds up and passes between them, trying to hypnotize them in front, which also fails as Blues and Rockman turn off all displays so they can’t see anything at all, but protects them from Flashman’s hypnotization. As they make it to another service station, they discuss the issue of a Asteroid Navi interfering with the race, most likely as a driver. While still resting, Saiko manages to hack and plug Flashman into Blues’ vehicle, to which it’s revealed Blues isn’t there, but Iceman is. When Flashman attempts to delete, Iceman, Blues, and Rockman are plugged in and manage to interfere. Unfortunately, Flashman plugs out before Blues can land a hit on him.

The race continues again, now with Flashman ahead of Rockman and Blues, but as he takes a shortcut, Blues tells Rockman that Flashman’s car won’t survive in the terrain he’s driving through. Flashman once again hypnotizes another driver, but this time causes the car to attack IPC's vehicles. When that doesn’t work and Flashman’s car starts malfunctioning, Flashman tells Saiko to use the Dimensional Chip. When Flashman appears in the real world, Rockman and Blues stop their vehicles as Netto and Enzan, who were trailing behind the race, call for a dimensional area.

After Cross Fusing, Netto questions Saiko as to how far he’d go to win the race. Saiko yells that he needs the victory and commands Flashman to attack. Netto and Enzan swiftly beat Flashman with them slashing him at the same time and forcing him to plug out. Saiko flees, speeding off in the car before Netto and Enzan can stop him. While the two ponder if the race should stop or be continued, Saiko is yelling about how this could’ve happened. While he’s in the middle of complaining,  a transmission breaks through to his car, revealing Tesla on the other end, to which Saiko asks who she is.

The race comes to an end as no winners are declared due to the race being ruined by Saiko and Flashman. All cars are lined up to be applauded for participating in the race. Enzan mentions that as long as they win the next race, the results of this race are fine. Meiru, Tohru, and Chisao all ask Enzan to be a part of the next race, to which Enzan gets annoyed as they begin requesting custom cars.

The episode ends with Saiko standing in front of a desk in a dark room, pledging his allegiance to Neo WWW.
