IceMan.EXE Navi Data Chip (Advanced PET)
A Navi Data Chip (ナビデータチップ Nabi Dēta Chippu) is a toy Battle Chip used in the Rockman.EXE series of video games.
In the games[]
In Rockman EXE 4.5 Real Operation, Advanced PET Navi Data Chips unlock the Navi depicted on the chip as a playable character on the player select screen. There are 21 characters in total, and 18 of them that must be unlocked.
In Rockman.EXE 5 and 6, when Netto Hikari is operating a NetNavi other than Rockman.EXE, he has the option of selecting a fixed Navi Data Chip. This chip can only be used once per battle, and it is the NetNavi's most powerful attack. These chips are marked with gold artwork. In 5, the attack levels up over the course of the game, in 6 its damage is the same throughout the entire playthrough.
Toy versions[]
Blues Navi Data Chip (Progress PET)
With the release of the Battle Chip Gate products, Navi Data Chips were released to allow the player to play as the NetNavi represented in the chip throughout the game by slotting in any of these chips in the Battle Chip Gate.
It first appeared in the Japanese version of Rockman.EXE 4 as a Operation Battle secret mode that becomes available with the Battle Chip Gate, and as a major feature in Rockman.EXE 4.5 Real Operation. While the Battle Chip Gate wasn't released outside Japan, the mode is still present in localized versions of the fourth game and can be unlocked in any version.[1] Most Navi Data Chips were released in Operation Battle Starter boxes containing 8 Standard Chips, 1 Mega Chip, and 1 Navi Data Chip.
TomahawkMan Navi Data Chip (Link PET_EX)
For Rockman.EXE 5, Navi Data Chips returned, but had a new purpose outside of Operation Battle Mode. Slotting in a Navi Data Chip during a non-liberation single player battle, or in the Team Battle Network Duel format, allows Rockman to tag out for one turn, being replaced by the Navi depicted in the Navi Data Chip. This is called Navi Change (which inspired the Party Battle System for the DS version). If Rockman was in a Soul before tagging out, he will return with that Soul when the Navi leaves. This allows a funny quirk where the "on activation" abilities of Tomahawk and Search Soul will trigger again.[2]
Navi Data Chips were also released for Rockman.EXE 6 and work with the Beast Link Gate. This time, you can play as any playable Navi by going into a machine in Aster Land after defeating the final boss in the respective version in the game and slotting in a compatible Navi Data Chip. Afterwards, you can now play as that Navi in both single player and Network Duels. The Navis accessed through Navi Data Chips are able to be leveled up, unlike their in-game counterparts. There are two exclusive Navis that cannot be accessed by other means outside of hacking. First, you can get Rockman SP through the Rockman, Dark Rockman, Colonel, Forte, and Beast Out Forte Navi Data Chips. This Rockman cannot Beast Out or use Patch cards and lacks his own Navi Data Chip. Secondly, you can get Blues with the Blues or Dark Blues Navi Data Chip, who plays like he does in 5. Notably, Blues has no elemental weaknesses, unlike fellow Sword Navi Slash Man. You can no longer use the in-game Cross menu while the gate is attached, so Navi Data Chips are the only way you can Cross or Cross Beast during a battle, and they follow the same rules as Crosses used in the base game.[3]
Link Chips are also used in Rockman.EXE Battle Chip Stadium. Accessing a character through a Navi Data Chip makes it stronger than the counterpart selected from the in-game menu.
