Neptune Stage is a stage that appeared in Mega Man V that has Neptune as the boss.

Description[]

Being one of the first four stages, it is located on Earth. Neptune's stage takes place inside a giant submarine, though at the start of the stage, Mega Man spawns on top of the submarine outside. While outside, the submarine slowly bops up and down, a shift in terrain unique to this stage. While this doesn't affect enemy combat much, it makes the mid-bosses fought outside a bit tricky since they fly. Once inside, various water gimmicks are introduced, and are unique to this stage. This includes water that moves along the floor and flows down from ledges. This rushing water pushes the player in the direction its moving in, while midair water will forcefully push the player downwards and shorten jumps. Unlike previous games that featured this gimmick, the flowing water is stronger with pushing Mega Man sideways. There is also regular water that increases Mega Man's jump height as usual. There are some pipes that have small cracks in them. If they are shot (accident or not), they can release flowing water. These cracks may also release high-pressure steam if shot, unique to this stage. They temporarily block the player's path for a few seconds, and later in the stage, certain cracks will already be releasing stream without requiring Mega Man to shoot them first.

Valuable pickups to look out for:

  • PChipS P-Chips: A total of 10 P-Chips (5 small) can be found and collected within this stage.
  • GB1UP 1-UP: There is one room where Mega Man has to climb a tall ladder, moving in and out of the steam released by the pipes on the side. This pickup and a big health energy are on the left wall, but to get them normally, Mega Man has to get all the way to the top and then drop down while hugging the left wall. If he has an enhanced Mega Arm, he can instead grab them from the ladder, without having to fall down.

Trivia[]

  • This stage is similar to the Wily Battleship, in that both stages have Mega Man start outside, fight enemies while outside, and eventually break inside for the rest of the stage.
