The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), known as the Family Computer (ファミリーコンピュータ, Famirī Konpyūta) in Japan, is a third-generation video game console manufactured by Nintendo. The console was released on July 15, 1983 in Japan, October 18, 1985 in North America, and September 1, 1986 in Europe.

The first entry of the Mega Man series was initially released in Japan on December 17, 1987 for that console. The last title of the series released for the console was Mega Man 6, initially released in Japan on November 5, 1993.

The console was succeeded by the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1990.

Trivia

• In Mega Man 7, many abandoned Famicoms in the background of Junk Man's stage, but these have been removed in the Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 version.
