The Nintendo Switch, formerly known as NX during development, is a hybrid gaming console designed and released by Nintendo as well as being Nintendo’s latest game system. It was released in 2018 worldwide. The Switch is mainly designed to be played either as a handheld or while hooked up to a television set.
Also the Nintendo Switch is designed to be used with the Amiibo to unlock gameplay features, to which the Mega Man figurine from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U can be used to unlock additional Challenges for Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2. A new amiibo figurine is currently in development to be released alongside the Switch version of Mega Man 11.
On July 10th, 2018 a new model known as the Nintendo Switch Lite was annouced to be in development. Unlike the original Switch, the Switch Lite is a more portable version, so it lacks the ability to hook up to a TV through docking mode. The basic controls are also built into the system lacking the HD rumble features and IR Motion Camera (which therefore requires regular Joy-Cons to be present to use Switch games that require motion controls). However, some advantages is that the Switch Lite has are a longer battery life making it easier to use before recharging and is sold at a lower price which is a $100 less compared to the original Switch. The Switch Lite is current set for release on September 20, 2019.
