Penpen (ペンペン Penpen) is a small amphibious penguin-like robot from the Mega Man series that was originally created to collect meteorological data in the Antarctic. It appears as an enemy in Gemini Man's stage (before Doc Robot) in Mega Man 3 and Mega Man III, where they come out from Penpen Makers slipping forward at high speed. They are also found in the water area of the first Wily Castle stage in Mega Man 3, where they move up and down until Mega Man gets close - then they swim toward him.

In Mega Man: Battle & Chase, there are unnamed penguins that act and looks like Penpen, suggesting it's a variety of them. They mainly appear in the South Pole Course.

Variations[]

Penpen Maker[]

Penpen Maker (ペンペンメーカー Penpen Mēkā) is a large enemy from Mega Man 3 and Mega Man III that appears twice in Gemini Man's stage (they don't appear in the Doc Robot version of the stage). Penpen Maker was originally used as an Antarctic exploration robot before being modified for combat. It is unable to move, but is able to constantly produces Penpens from its body, which will slide forward to attack enemies. Its weak point is the handle above its head.

Penpen EV[]

Penpen EV (ペンペンEV PenPen EV) is an upgrade of the Penpen, which resembles a Rockhopper Penguin. It spins around, and can be pushed aside with a few shots. But if left alone it will face Mega Man, get on its belly, and do a short gravity-defying jet boost to slide towards him. In Mega Man 8, Penpen EVs mainly dwell in Frost Man's stage. Many appear from the ice blocks that emerge from hovering Hogales. In Mega Man & Bass, Penpen EVs appear in Cold Man's stage.
