"Charge forward in a devastating spike attack that would make Impact Man proud! Turn on your Power Gear for a bigger dash with explosive force. Use it in midair, too!"
―Weapon description, Mega Man 11

Pile Driver, known as Pile Drive (パイルドライブ Pairu Doraibu) in Japan, is Impact Man's Special Weapon in Mega Man 11. Once Mega Man gets his hands on it, he gains a special Dash ability. This power allows him to attack foes he rams into which shoves them off into an explosion. It can also function as an Air Dash attack as well, though its range is slightly shorter when used in the air.

Using this weapon with the Power Gear enhances this attack, giving Mega Man a longer dash and generating greater explosions.

Just like the other Special Weapons in Mega Man 11, Pile Driver gives Mega Man new Head Gear and Arm Gear that alters his physical appearance when equipped, rather than simply swapping his colors. The Head Gear is a helmet that closely resembles Impact Man's (minus the head spike), and the Arm Gear is a jackhammer drill with which Mega Man uses to perform the dash attack. It also colors Mega Man's body to be orange on one side, yellow on the other side and black in the middle, much like Impact Man himself. The middle of his helmet and his arms, legs, shoulders and abdomen are black, while his pelvis, the left side of his body and the top of his weapon are yellow and the right side of his body and the jackhammer drill are orange.

This weapon is the weakness of Bounce Man, as it chops him into pieces with every hit; however, Bounce Man will throw his severed limbs and head around his room as a counterattack.

Trivia[]

  • This weapon's long air dash attack when the Power Gear is activated is similar to the Speed Burner's charge attack from Mega Man X2 and Mega Man Xtreme.
  • Dashing with this weapon still consumes ammo.
  • Pile Driver was mentioned earlier on a Game Informer post about Mega Man 11, posted in 2017, though its name wasn't revealed at the time.[1]
  • Pile Driver was one of two weapons featured in the Demo version of Mega Man 11, the other being Scramble Thunder.
  • This is the first and, so far, only boss weapon to give Mega Man an asymmetrical color scheme, making one of his leg pieces yellow and the other, orange.
    • Mega Man's two hands also are different colors, but they are the same in when becomes Arm Gear form. This can be found by changes the direction he is facing in game.
