Power Muscler (パワーマッスラー Pawā Massurā) is a large enemy robot from Mega Man 5, and it appears in quite a few stages. This robot was based on a manga Dr. Wily read when he was young.[2] Power Muscler was originally used for the construction of bases, but due to its high power, it was modified for combat.[3] Power Muscler basically just jumps about similar to Big Eye, trying to crush Mega Man. If Mega Man tries to run under it, it uses the jets on the back to fall early in an attempt to smash him. Using the sliding is the best way to evade it. If forced to fight from below or above, Power Stone, Gyro Attack, or Beat can be used for best results. If forced to fight in a horizontal passage, try to be in a place where the ceiling would prevent it from moving toward Mega Man, and rapid fire. Power Musclers are found in Gravity Man's, Gyro Man's, Crystal Man's, and Napalm Man's stages, as well as the third stage of Proto Man's Castle and the second Wily Castle Stage.

Power Muscler appears again in Napalm Man's stage in Mega Man for the Game Gear, under the name Robot Guard.

Trivia[]

  • Power Muscler's design (specially the fin on its head) and great strength suggest that the manga Wily read might be Kinnikuman. Its design is also reminiscent of Tetsujin #28 (lit. "Iron Man #28", also known as Gigantor).
  • The torso and head of the Power Muscler seems to be based on the appearance of Guts Man.
