Power Piston (パワーピストン Pawā Pisuton) is a boss in Mega Man 6, being the boss of Mr. X Stage 2.

Mega Man 6[]

Attack Pattern[]

Power Piston always stays attached to the right wall, and scurries up and down the wall like a spider with quick reflexes. Due to being a piston machine, each of these movements are also stomps that cause boulders to fall down from the ceiling at a constant rate. The boulders fall down in a straight line and explode upon hitting the ground, and while they are difficult to react to, Mega Man will be completely safe from them if he stays on the far left corner of the room. To compensate for this, the Power Piston can attack by shooting either a 2-shot spread or a 3-shot spread loosely aimed in Mega Man's general position. These shot spreads are also fired at a fast enough rate that as soon as one of them disappears, Power Piston shoots another right away. The boss's weak point is the small yellow eye that actually fires those shot spreads.

Weakness[]

Power Piston is weak to Silver Tomahawk, which can defeat it in 10 hits. The weapon's trajectory is perfectly lined up to hit Power Piston if it climbs close to the top of the ceiling, though the weapon will miss if Power Piston is lower. The boss is also weak to Power Adaptor, which a fully-charged punch doing 4 damage. However, it is not recommended given how the fight is designed to essentially keep Mega Man as far away from Power Piston as possible. As with all bosses, Power Piston takes 3 damage from a fully-charged buster shot.
