Pseudoroid bosses

The Pseudoroids from Mega Man ZX Advent.

Pseudoroids, known as Falseroid (フォルスロイド) in Japan, are the bosses in the Mega Man ZX series. They are called Pseudoroids because they draw upon the powers of Biometals in battle despite not being true, chosen Mega Men.[1]

Characteristics[]

Pseudoroids are physically similar to the Mutos Reploids of the Mega Man Zero series. Instead of a human appearance, Pseudoroids resemble mechanical animals (or plants) with humanoid traits. However, Pseudoroids are unique in that their powers come from Biometals (or fragments thereof) stored in their bodies. Certain Pseudoroids were not born as Pseudoroids, rather being converted into them after receiving Biometal powers.[2][3] Buckfire states that Pseudoroids are considered different from simple Mavericks.[4] Since Pseudoroids draw power from Biometals by force, rather than being Chosen Ones, they are considered "artificial Mega Men" and not legitimate players in the Game of Destiny.[1]

Due to their Biometals, each Pseudoroid has powerful elemental abilities. Each Pseudoroid has a weakspot on their body that is tied to their Biometal powers - striking this weakspot damages both the Pseudoroid and their Biometal power source. Additionally, their Biometal powers are often so powerful that they risk damaging the electronic brain of the Pseudoroid using it; Vulturon and Hedgeshock are examples of Pseudoroids with special precautions to avoid this. However, Rospark did not receive these precautions, and his intense electric waves gave him a quirk that gets him excited over male opponents.[5] Even after losing their Biometals, Pseudoroids can be revived by Model W to fight with the same elemental powers.[6]

The Capsule Converter uses technology based on Biometal Model F, but because it does not directly contain a Model F fragment, it is not a real Pseudoroid (not to mention it is a security system rather than a Reploid).[7] It's also implied that Pseudoroids may be entire species, as Carley, a reporter in the Hunter's Camp, mentions that Hunters often hunt Pseudoroids to test their skills.[8]

History[]

The first known Pseudoroids were created by Serpent, who split the data of Biometals Model H, Model F, Model L and Model P to create eight of them. These Pseudoroids are responsible for furthering Serpent's goals of terrorizing innocents and using their Cyber-elves to awaken Model W, as well as preventing the leak of evidence which could damage Serpent's reputation. These Pseudoroids are defeated by the Mega Man Model ZX one by one, and all the Biometal fragments in their bodies are recovered. However, the same Pseudoroids are later resurrected by Model W for a rematch within the Slither Inc. head office to stop the main character from reaching Serpent.

Another batch of Pseudoroids appears in Mega Man ZX Advent. The first, Buckfire, leads an army of Mavericks to attack the Hunters' train containing Model A, and upon fighting the protagonist who had transformed with the Biometal, accuses the Biometal of making a mistake and attacks. It is eventually revealed that Buckfire and the other Pseudoroids work for Master Albert, and that they were created with Model W fragments as their power source.[9] They are all defeated by the Mega Man Model A, but return for a rematch later on inside Ouroboros, where Albert explains that he preserved the Pseudoroids' spirits and created new bodies for them. Although they try their hardest to stop the Model A Chosen One, they are destroyed for good.

List of Pseudoroids[]

Mega Man ZX[]

Serpent's Pseudoroids have four different levels for a victory depending on how many times their weak point gets hit during the battle, with Level 4 meaning the weak point was never hit and Level 1 meaning it was hit several times. This determines how damaged the Biometal becomes. A Level 4 victory also makes a stuffed animal of the Pseudoroid appear hanging in Prairie's room. The first letter of each of the ZX Pseudoroids' names matches the letter of the Biometal fragment that each possesses.

Hivolt Hivolt the Raptoroid: A raptor-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model H gives him Thunder alignment. He guards the old power plant in Area E, which is secretly powering Serpent's work on Model W.
Lurerre Lurerre the Abysroid: An anglerfish-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model L gives her Ice alignment. She guards a data disk in the frozen lake at Area F, which contains sensitive data on Serpent's past.
Fistleo Fistleo the Predatoroid: A lion-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model F gives him Fire alignment. He leads an attack that sets ablaze the city in Area G to gather negative Cyber-elves for Model W.
Purprill Purprill the Mandroid: A mandrill-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model P gives him no alignment. He messes around with his powers in the abandoned theme park at Area H, his old stomping ground.
Hurricaune Hurricaune the Wolveroid: A weasel-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model H gives her Thunder alignment. She terrorizes prisoners at the warehouse in Area I, planning to sacrifice them to Model W.
Leganchor Leganchor the Gelroid: A jellyfish-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model L gives him Ice alignment. He guards a data disk in the secret tunnels at Area J, which contains sensitive data on Serpent's past.
Flammole Flammole the Moleroid: A mole-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model F gives him Fire alignment. He mines in the caverns of Area K, hoping to erupt the volcano to unearth more Biometals.
Protectos Protectos the Goreroid: A rhinoceros-based Pseudoroid, whose half of Model P gives him no alignment. He downloads old Guardian data from the abandoned laboratory in Area L before it leaks.

Mega Man ZX Advent[]

Unlike Serpent's Pseudoroids, who each hold a half of a Biometal, Albert's Pseudoroids are all equipped with fragments of Model W.[9] Only four of the eight Pseudoroids have weakspots, and attacking them has no immediate drawback. Instead of four victory levels, there are now three Medals for each Pseudoroid, collected by beating them in certain ways.

Buckfire Buckfire the Gaxelleroid: A gazelle-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives him Fire alignment. He attacks the Train to recapture Model A before it reaches Legion.
Chronoforce Chronoforce the Xiphosuroid: A horseshoe crab-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives him Ice alignment. He dwells in the Arctic Ice Floe, and attacks Mega Man Model A on sight.
Rospark (Bulb form) Rospark the Floroid: A rose-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives him Thunder alignment. He tends to a Model W core in the Tower of Verdure, sacrificing anyone who enters.
Vulturon Vulturon the Condoroid: A vulture-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives him no alignment. He tends to a Model W core in the Scrapyard, resurrecting junk robots to feed it anguish.
Queenbee Queenbee the Hymenopteroid: A wasp-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives her Fire alignment. She tends to a Model W core in the Control Center, plotting an explosion to feed it despair.
Bifrost Bifrost the Crocoroid: A crocodile-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives him Ice alignment. He guards the inactive Maverick soldiers in the Bio Lab, waiting for Albert to unleash them.
Hedgeshock Hedgeshock the Erinaceroid: A hedgehog-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives her Thunder alignment. She guards sensitive data stored in the computers at the Mysterious Lab.
ArgoyleUgoyle Argoyle & Ugoyle the Shisaroids: A shisa-based Pseudoroid, whose Model W fragment gives them no alignment. They guard sensitive data stored in the computers at the Waterfall Ruins.

Mechaniloids with Pseudoroid DNA[]

In Mega Man ZX Advent, there are eight kinds of Mechaniloid enemies which carry the DNA of Serpent's Pseudoroids. This reveals that the DNA of Pseudoroids can be used in the creation or evolution of other mechanical creatures.

  • Pulse Cannon: An automatic cannon that resembles Hivolt's talons and fires electric shots.
  • Rumblefish: An aggressive fish that waits for prey before an ambush strike, similar to Lurerre.
  • Galleon Rider: A motorcycle-riding Galleon who gets stronger when hit by fire, thanks to Fistleo's DNA.
  • Hop Cannon: An automatic cannon that bounces up and down while shooting balls, like Purprill.
  • Hyper Bole: A tree trunk that resembles Hurricaune's spinning body and can launch electric spikes.
  • Skull Anchor: An underwater obstacle that shares Leganchor's skull face and can freeze on contact.
  • Burner: An automatic drill that digs through surfaces to unleash fire, just like Flammole.
  • Barriode: A defensive system that resembles Protectos' body and shares his weakpoints.
