"In a moment the energy furnaces will explode and a beautiful fire flower will bloom, filled with nectar. The sweet nectar of terror."
—Queenbee, Mega Man ZX Advent

Queenbee the Hymenopteroid, known in Japan as Kaisemine the Wasproid (カイゼミーネ・ザ・ワスプロイド Kaizemīne za Wasupuroido), is a Pseudoroid from Mega Man ZX Advent based on a royal-class queen bee. She tends to the Model W at the Control Center, causing an uncontrollable thermal runaway in hopes of causing mass destruction.

Characteristics[]

Queenbee is a female Pseudoroid based on a queen bee. She has a slender red body with gold complements and blue lights. Violet flames on her back take the shape of wings and behave as a jetpack. Queenbee has no legs, though wheels on her abdomen allow her to roll along the ground. As long as the joint specifications match, Queenbee can attach her abdomen to objects to carry them with her. She can even carry objects larger than herself, and when faced as a boss, she is connected to an armed beehive, making her body a variegated armament.[1] Due to the complexity of this mechanism, her only other weapon is a stinger cannon that fires flaming needles.[2]

Queenbee is a sinister Pseudoroid who tends to speak in terms related to bees and flowers. She also has a haughty tone to her voice, acting like a conceited upper-class woman. She enjoys managing her bee drones as if they were employees.[2]

History[]

Mega Man ZX Advent[]

Queenbee confronts the Mega Man Model A in the Control Center, right after Prometheus takes away the local fragment of Biometal Model W. She has caused a thermal runaway to detonate the energy furnaces, fostering chaos and pain fitting for Model W, but she is defeated by the Mega Man Model A. They then copy her DNA data with A-Trans and use her form to stop the runaway. Queenbee is later revived by Master Albert for the final battle in Ouroboros, where she is again defeated.

Strategy[]

Boss Battle[]

Queenbee is encountered at the top room of the Control Center. Queenbee's body is attached to a massive beehive containing several armaments to use against the player, including several bee drones as well as rockets, and can fire red lasers in multiple directions. During battle, Queenbee cannot be damaged as long as she has her mobile hive. The beehive can be destroyed with sufficient damage, forcing her to fly around as she attempts to strike the player. However, she will eventually fly off-screen to bring another. Her weak spot is her exposed abdomen, once the beehive is gone.

Attack Description Notes
Bee Amazoness Queenbee's hive releases a number of explosive bees that target the player and explode on contact.
Fanatic Missile Queenbee's hive opens to fire four homing missiles, two on each side.
Heat Fever Queenbee's hive opens and fires multiple wide laser blasts randomly in many directions.
Needle Shot Queenbee attempts to shoot the player with her stinger cannon. Always done in 3-shot bursts. This move is only performed if her hive has been destroyed.
Fire Shot Queenbee charges her stinger cannon to fire a burning shot. She can do this multiple times. This move is only performed if her hive has been destroyed.
Gigantic Fire Queenbee rises to the top of the screen, firing a series of infrared laser shots which produce an explosion that sends burning rubble flying for several seconds. Only used after she loses half of her energy.

Medal Awards[]

Defeating Queenbee under specific conditions will award the player with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Collecting all 24 medals from the game will unlock Model a.

  • Gold: Defeat Queenbee without striking the hive.
  • Silver: Defeat Queenbee without destroying any of her bee drones from her hive.
  • Bronze: Defeat Queenbee by only attacking the hive.

A-Trans[]

When copied with A-Trans, Queenbee lacks her hive; the player can only fly or shoot downwards-traveling fire darts. She can, however, dock into several objects scattered throughout the game and use them in a variety of ways.

Image Attack Input Description
Fly B (midair) Queenbee boosts upwards into the air. Depletes the BM gauge on use.
Dock Queenbee can dock into certain slots, attaching them to her abdomen. This can be used to grab weapons or move objects.
Undock Queenbee detaches from a docked item.
Needle Shot Y Queenbee fires a needle from her stinger diagonally.
Fire Shot Hold Y and release Queenbee fires a flaming needle from her stinger.

Etymology[]

Queenbee the Hymenopteroid is named after the queen bee (the matriarch of a beehive) and the "Hymenoptera" biological order, which includes bees. Her Japanese name, Kaisemine the Wasproid, is a portmanteau of kaizerin (German for empress) and mine (German for torpedo), along with the word "wasp" which is a close relative to bees.

Trivia[]

  • Queenbee and Hedgeshock are the only female Pseudoroids in Mega Man ZX Advent.
  • Queenbee's medal requirements are all related to her beehive.
  • It's possible to get the silver and bronze medal at the same time by just striking the hive and not destroying her bee drones.
