Quick Man Stage is a stage in Mega Man 2 that has Quick Man as the boss.

Quick Man's stage takes place inside an underground path and sees Mega Man descend further and further throughout. While there are very few enemies to deal with, this stage is the most infamous one from Mega Man 2 thanks to its unique gimmick, the Force Beams. Force Beams are orange lasers that fly from the sides at high speed and will kill Mega Man instantly on contact. Because of this design, the player is required to go fast by taking quick turns throughout the sections that contain the Force Beams. The easiest way to avoid them is to use Time Stopper to freeze them in place, with there being a lot of big weapon pickups to extend the Time Stopper's duration. The first section of Force Beam uses the level design's layout to help ease players into knowing what to do, while the second section takes the gloves off and demands your full attention. The stage also has a lot of 1-UPs found in different paths, likely to alleviate the difficulty.

Items[]

Valuable pickup to look out for:

  • 1-UP: On the very first room where the player drops in. Can only be obtained if the player has Items 1, 2, or 3. Hints at the stage's difficulty given you need to beat others to obtain this pickup.
  • 1-UP: In the first Force Beam section, if the player holds right when entering the second room and into the third room, they can enter a special room that contains this pickup, an E-Tank, and a big weapon energy. Going left instead is easier but will make the player miss the goodies.
  • E-Tank: In the same room as the 2nd 1-UP above.
  • 1-UP: In the second Force Beam section, one of the rooms will have 2 optional ledges that will very quickly get covered by Force Beams. The higher one has a big health energy, and the lower one has this pickup. They are much easier to obtain using Time Stopper to stop the Force Beams (the weapon is necessary for the big health energy), though if you don't have that weapon, you will have to very precisely on that ledge, hopefully get enough speed to grab this pickup, then immediately go left.

Other appearances[]

  • A reproduction of the stage appeared in the Game Gear Mega Man game as the final stage from Dr. Wily's base, but Quick Man himself is not present.
  • The first Zero Space stage in Mega Man X5 is based off Quick Man's stage, with many lethal lasers, and a time stopping weapon, Dark Hold, to pass by them easier.

Other media[]

Quick Man's stage appeared in the Archie Comics Mega Man comic and in the manga Rockman: Dr. Wily no Inbou.
