Resident Evil, known as Biohazard (バイオハザード) in Japan, is a series of survival horror games by Capcom. The series has a few references in the Mega Man franchise.
Resident Evil references in Mega Man[]
- In Mega Man Battle & Chase, the Sunset Course has a Resident Evil (Bio Hazard 2 in Japan, misnamed as "Residient Evil" in English) banner.
- In Mega Man X6, one of the Injured Reploids, specifically, one of the Wolfloids in Blizzard Wolfang's stage, was named Leon, which was a reference to Leon Scott Kennedy, the co-protagonist and main protagonist of Resident Evil 2 and Darkside Chronicles, and Resident Evil 4, respectively.
- Ciel's theme in Mega Man Zero 2, Labo, was based on "The One Who Survives", Rebecca Chambers' theme from Resident Evil.[1]
- In the Rockman Zero manga, Omega is deathly afraid of zombies to the extent that he was even willing to work with Zero just to stop the zombie robots, with the root reason behind his fear of them coming from his never finishing Resident Evil.
- In Mega Man Legends, the girl in front of the YAG school says she wants to make games like Resident Evil.
- In Mega Man Legends 2, the description of the Flutter decoration item Game Cartridge says that it is the latest game in a popular series: "Resident Evil 43".
Mega Man references in Resident Evil[]
- In Japan, the game Biohazard: Director's Cut included a demo of Rockman DASH on disc 2, alongside a demo of Biohazard 2 and a trailer of Breath of Fire III.
- The 2020 release of Resident Evil 3 has a poster of Dr. Light and Dr. Wily in the subway, and the shop Toy Uncle has Bad Box Art Mega Man merchandise. Thomas Light's depiction on the poster bears a close resemblance to his DiC animation depiction.
Crossovers of both series in different games[]
- In TEPPEN, Mega Man X encountered Albert Wesker shortly after the latter's final meeting with Umbrella Corporation founder Oswell E. Spencer and fought him to a stalemate. The result of the battle had X becoming disillusioned with his mission, while Wesker discovered he was afflicted with Uroboros and likely dying as a result of his murderous action against Spencer. In Ada Wong's story mode, Ada while hunting for treasures belonging to her employer had a brief run-in with Zero (implied to be in his Maverick state), only to defeat him and make off with the device. It is also implied that she was the mysterious woman who guided the heroes to the Land of Illusion, including Wesker, ironically enough.
- Both Mega Man/Mega Man X characters as well as Resident Evil characters have appeared in various Marvel vs. Capcom games.

Trivia[]
- Although primarily derived from Dr. Albert Wily, portions of Master Albert's characterization and arc in Mega Man ZX Advent shared notable similarities to that of Albert Wesker, the main antagonist of the Resident Evil franchise up to Resident Evil 5.
