- ―In-game text, Mega Man X4
Ryuenjin, or Ryuuenjin (龍炎刃 lit. "Dragon Flame Blade"), is the special technique that Zero learns after defeating Magma Dragoon in Mega Man X4. This technique is based off Magma Dragoon's ability to perform uppercut/upward attack with flame. By pressing the S.M. Button and UP on the D-pad while Zero is on the ground, he will jump up diagonally with a fiery Z-Saber blade. This technique is quite powerful and is capable of striking multiple hits on a target, with the possibility of destroying them. Because of its nature, Ryuenjin can be used to burn the wooden pieces in Web Spider's stage.
Ryuenjin causes a weakness reaction against Cyber Peacock, Frost Walrus and Sigma's first form. It is also the technique which causes the most damage to Iris and Gunner Sigma.
Damage Data Chart[]
Damage values in units in Mega Man X4.
- Mid-bosses such as Tentoroid and DG-42L and some bosses do not have an invincibility period when struck, so Ryuenjin can deal a tremendous amount of damage as it can inflict multiple hits. Damages listed on this chart is damage dealt per hit, not the total amount of damage done.
Other appearances[]
- In Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, Black Zero uses Ryuenjin when fought during the last X Challenge and is used as a combo with Hyouretsuzan.
- Ryuenjin is used by Omega and Model OX in Mega Man Zero 3 and Mega Man ZX. Omega uses a non-elemental version while Model OX uses the fire-enhanced version.
- Zero is using Ryuenjin in one of his Unit Cards from TEPPEN.
- Ryuenjin, alongside Hyouretsuzan, is one of Zero's skills in Shironeko Project. When used, Zero rises with Ryuenjin, causing fire damage and having a chance to burn enemies, then falls with Hyouretsuzan, causing water damage and having a chance to freeze enemies. The player can dash after Ryuenjin to cancel Hyouretsuzan.
- Ryuenjin is one of Zero's abilities in Tǎ Fáng Sān Guó Zhì.
Mega Man X DiVE[]
Ryuenjin is one of Zero's Active Skills in Mega Man X DiVE. It has three Skill Cards that can improve it, but only one can be equipped at a time:
- Burn - Causes the target to burn and take 1.58% attack damage every 0.5 seconds.
- Mobility - Reduces preparation time by 20%.
- Hadangeki - Releases a sword wave with 15.75% attack damage.
Zero's fourth Passive Skill, Air Sword (龍炎舞 "Ryūenbu", "Dragon Flame Dance"), improves Ryuenjin. After using Ryuenjin three times, the fourth time will have the damage increased by 12%. It can also knock other players up to the air when used in the Arena mode.
Fighting games[]
In Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and Marvel vs. Capcom 3, this is Zero's main anti-air technique, similar to a "Shoryuken" style special (F, D, DF + Atk). The stronger the version, the more hits and height are put into the move. He is also able to use it as his primary assist attack in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, though in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 he is able to have Hadangeki and Shippuuga as assists.
In Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Zero can perform Ryuenjin in midair and a flameless version of the attack appears as his Variable Counter (a possible noding the original "Rising" skill as well as some of Zero's other rising slash variations). It is often the main air combo finisher to most of his air combos and is a bit subpar for an assist, though it can help with some combos if used right.
In Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Zero can no longer perform this in midair due to the inclusion of Raikousen (which has the same command as Ryuenjin, but only in midair).
In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, the Ryuenjin's input is now changed to Down Down+Punch like with most anti-air specials, and can be Hyper Cancelled as well. Zero can also perform a Hyouretsuzan if he releases a Lv. 3 Hyper Zero Blaster charge during Ryuenjin's animation.
Ryuenjin is also one of the attacks used by the Zero Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Trivia[]
- This technique is the only one of Zero's moveset that it is the main weakness of more than one Maverick. Being Rising Fire's counterpart, it is effective against Frost Walrus, but also against Cyber Peacock (whose weakness should be the technique gained from Split Mushroom, Kuuenzan).
