Salad Memorial Day!? (サラダ記念日!? Sarada Kinenbi!?) is the 4th episode of Rockman.EXE Stream. It aired October 23, 2004 in Japan.[1]
Plot[]
Something strange happens to the school lunch at Akihara Elementary School. All the vegetables have disappeared from the menu. Netto is furious that his favorite curry also has no toppings. Someone has tampered with the cooking program at the school lunch center. As a Net Savior, or rather as a curry lover, how can something like this be tolerated?! Netto races around trying to find the culprit, suspecting that Mameo, a boy who hates vegetables, is the suspect. Meanwhile, the situation gets worse, and all the vegetables disappear not only from the school lunch but from all of Japan. It was all the work of the Asteroid Plantman, given to Mameo.[1]
Summary[]
Netto is excited for lunch as it’s curry day. However, he’s devastated to see that the curry is missing all the vegetables. Day after day, each dish is missing the vegetables. A young boy named Mameo, who is a student at Netto's school and has a dislike for vegetables. He’s given PlantMan by Slur. Mameo uses Plantman to get rid vegetables for school lunch, manipulating the machine to throw the vegetables instead of adding them to the dish. Netto grows increasingly concerned about the lack of vegetables. On his way to school, he talks to Chisao who tells him that the Lunch Predictor, Mameo, is the one making the vegetables dissapear as he keeps accurately predicting no vegetables. Netto is sure it’s a coincidence. Enzan and Blues investigate the school’s systems after Planetman manipulates it to throw away the vegeteables, but they’re too late to stop him.
Netto meets with Meijin and Enzan who explain the situation. Netto is enraged and declares he’ll fine the culprit for doing such a despicable thing. A firewall is around the school’s lunch system to prevent more vegetables from being thrown away. Mameo is shocked as vegetables appear in the lunch that day. Netto questions other students and finds that Mameo is in the nurse’s office. Mameo talks to Plantman who offers to throw away all vegetables. Netto overhears as he enters the room and demands to know who Mameo is talking to. However, Mameo gets up and leaves.
Plantman manipulates various farm systems, preventing the watering of vegetable, overheating a greenhouse, and causing the release of horses to eat more vegetables. This results in an incredible vegetable shortage. Imports begin coming in, but Plantman stops the shipments. Mameo is beyond happy that he won’t have to eat vegetables anymore. Meijin shows Enzan and Netto footage of Plantman and Netto remembers the conversation Mameo was having day before. Mameo is distraught as he realizes other foods are being affected by the shortage and it could cause everyone to die of hunger. Plantman says he can’t stop it, but tells Mameo that if he uses his Dimensional Chip it’ll return everything to normal. Mameo falls for the trick and uses it. Netto and Enzan arrive just in time to stop Plantman from hurting Mameo, but Plantman flees, kidnapping Mameo in the process.
Plantman infiltrates a plant lab, manipulating vegetable seeds and causing them to grow into ginormous vegetables. Netto and Enzan follow and call for a Dimensional Area. Enzan tries to save Mameo from his cucumber cell while Netto fights, but Plantman stops him, cutting one of the vines holding him high up. Mameo realizes it’s all his fault and the only way out is to eat vegetables. He bites through his cell, but falls out, dangling over the edge. Netto and Enzan break free from Plantman’s grasp, saving Mameo and deleting Plantman.
Enzan holds Netto back as he yells at Mameo. Mameo apologizes. Vegetables return, the shortage no longer a problem. Mameo finds a new love for vegetables.
