Sega Holdings Co., Ltd. (セガホールディングス Sega Hōrudingusu, Sega being short for "Service Games") is a Japanese multinational video game company founded in 1940. Sega developed and published numerous video games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, its flagship series.
It is through Sega that Archie Comics has its license to publish the Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, and Sonic Boom comic lines. As such, Sega has cooperated with Capcom and Archie in the development of the Worlds Collide and Worlds Unite crossovers between the Sonic and Mega Man comics, and the second crossover also features a number of other Sega properties.
Sega also cooperated with Capcom and other companies with the games Project ✕ Zone, Project ✕ Zone 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Mega Man and Sonic characters also appeared in events from Line Rangers.
Additionally, Sega developed both Mega Man: The Wily Wars for the Sega Genesis and Mega Man for the Game Gear.
