Shining Ray (シャイニングレイ Shainingu Rei) is the Special Weapon that X and Alia receive after Optic Sunflower is defeated in Mega Man X8. It shoots out an energy beam that almost acts like fireworks, splitting into eight more bullets. These bullets spread outward, damaging foes in their way. Charged up, it sends out four exploding shots. The Shining Ray is the weakness of Dark Mantis and Sigma. X must be standing on the ground to use this weapon. X has yellow accents on his armour with this weapon ready.
For his version of the move, Optic Sunflower himself rotates his face in a full circle and fires a laser.

- "Shining Ray" is also the name of a 2002 song by Janne Da Arc, who did the theme for the Japanese version of Mega Man X8.
- In Mega Man X DiVE, White Day Alia's first active skill, Heart Balloon, known as Heart Balloon Fire (ハートバルーンファイア Hāto Barūn Fai'a) in Japanese, is based on this weapon.
