- "S.M. button while dashing. You can execute a powerful dash blade attack. Approach your enemy with Shippuuga and perform a combo!"
- ―In-game text, Mega Man X4
Shippuuga, or Shippūga (疾風牙 lit. "Hurricane Fang"), is a special technique that Zero uses with his Z-Saber after Slash Beast is defeated. This technique is based off Slash Beast's charge attack.
Video game appearances[]
Mega Man X4[]
In Mega Man X4, Zero learns Shippuga after defeating Slash Beast. By pressing the S.M. Button while dashing on the ground, Zero Z-Saber blade turns pink (possibly light red) and swings it in a half circular motion as he turns, inflicting 3 quick hits akin to his 3rd neutral combo input. Because Shippuuga can only be executed on the ground, Zero cannot perform this technique while air-dashing or dashing off the ground.
Shippuuga is effective against Web Spider (though trying to properly stun him with it is quite difficult) and General.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom[]
Shippuuga is one of Zero's moves. Compared to the Sentsuizan, the Shippuuga is a command normal/unique art instead of a special (F + H). Zero instead of braking from a dash for a quick spinning slash, floats a bit as he rears back his Z-Saber, and glides forward with an upwards angle slash as he leans in before completing his spinning motion.
The move still does 3 hits total like its original version, only it is done so by having his slash trail linger with a lasting hitbox as he glides forward with his slash, which each hit being cancel-able into a special, Hyper Combo or Baroque. Though due to being a heavy attack-based command normal, it cannot chain-cancel directly into his universal air combo/aerial rave launcher.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3[]
Zero uses this move's animation for his snapback attack, and even uses a midair version of it (without any alternate color effects) for one of his Team Aerial Combo/Team Aerial Rave starter attacks (thus making it a pseudo-version of Sentsuizan). Said snapback attack version also has a glitch when used during his Sougenmu that was patched in later versions.
While Shippuuga remains the same as a command normal/unique art with the same input as before, it instead slightly animates faster, and also inflicts its 3 hits faster. Though it is nerfed in horizontal range as the lingering slashing trail has a small visual + smaller hitbox size. However, it can now also properly be chain-cancelled into his air combo/aerial rave launcher due to system changes. In the Ultimate release, the universal movement and attack speed increase to X-Factor causes Shippuuga to inflict 2 hits max instead of 3 whenever X-Factor is activated on Zero.
Zero can also use it as an assist, where he'll have a running start first and only slash with the attack once.
Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite[]
While the attack is largely the same (now mapped to F + HP), Zero now shouts out the attack's name while it can also be chained into his crouching HP akin to how it was cancel-able into a launcher in the previous game, as well as cancel-able into other heavy-button command normals. Other than that, the move also now has its colored saber aura removed and is simply green.
Project X Zone[]
Shippuuga is one of Zero's moves, used alongside X in the "Nova Strike & Shippuuga" move. Zero uses Shippuuga to attack and approach the enemy, following with two Kuuenzan hits. Meanwhile, X uses Spin Wheel and ends the attack with Nova Strike.
Damage data chart[]
Damage values in units in Mega Man X4.
- Minibosses such as Tentoroid and DG-42L and some bosses do not have an invincibility period when struck, so Shippuuga can deal a tremendous amount of damage as it can inflict multiple hits. Damages listed on this chart is damage dealt per hit, not the total amount of damage done.

Trivia[]
- In the Mega Man X4 description, it is misspelled with the Kunrei Shiki romanization as Sippuuga, without an "h" in its name.
- Although this is Web Spider's weakness, it cannot be properly used to stun him as it can never reach the Maverick's web to cut it and make him fall (as the Twin Slasher does while playing with X).
- Although this technique is General's weakness like counterpart, it deals lower damage than Kuuenzan.
