For other locations with the same name, see Sigma's Hideout (Mega Man Xtreme 2) and Sigma Palace.

Sigma's Hideout (シグマのアジト Shiguma no Ajito),[1] known as Sigma Palace (シグマパレス Shiguma Paresu) in Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, is Sigma's secret base of operations in Mega Man X and its remake Mega Man Maverick Hunter X. It is a fortress on a floating island (a standard island in the game's remake). The hideout exploded after Sigma's defeat.

Sigma Stage 1[]

MMXSigmaStage1

Sigma Stage 1

After defeating the eight bosses, X and Zero discover the location of Sigma's fortress. Zero explains that he will go on ahead to take the brunt of enemy fire while X sneaks in behind him. Inside, Zero faces Vile and is captured. X follows him by is also defeated by Vile's new Ride Armor, but Zero breaks free from his cage and sacrifices himself to destroy Vile's weapon. X then fights Vile on foot and defeats him. If the player didn't obtain the Arm Parts, Zero will give his arm cannon to X before passing away. Afterwards, X continues through the base, beginning the boss rematches by fighting Boomer Kuwanger before ending the stage in a fight with Bospider.

In Maverick Hunter X, Sigma Palace 1 has some major differences. Zero does not appear in person (having sent a message on the Stage Select screen) and X infiltrates the base through the moat at the bottom instead of climbing platforms to an entrance. This leads to a rematch with Launch Octopus, followed by an upward climb through an area full of metal spiderwebs before arriving at the rematch with Boomerang Kuwanger. The rest of the stage is the same, including the fight with Bosspider. This means that the encounter with Zero and Vile does not occur in this stage.

Sigma Stage 2

The second stage is a dated-looking military area with purple skies and mountains visible in the background. After travelling indoors, the stage opens up to the skies before X climbs a tower to fight Rangda Bangda.

While it maintains the purple skies and windows in Maverick Hunter X, it is instead set in a rocky underground area with walls that X must destroy to proceed. There are then two Mole Borers before a rematch with Armored Armadillo. X then climbs several platforms (reminiscent of the original Sigma Stage 1's opening) to reach Storm Eagle's arena. X goes through a dark segment to fight Spark Mandrill before finally arriving at Rangda Bangda.

Sigma Stage 3[]

MMXSigmaStage3

Sigma Stage 3

The third stage, where X faces the remaining Mavericks before Sigma in a cold, industrial-looking area. This stage has the largest number of boss rematches, each split up by a short segment with a layout reminiscent of their original stage. After defeating the last of the Mavericks, X fights D-Rex to finish the stage and move on to Sigma.

In Maverick Hunter X, Sigma Palace 3 is a regal-looking hall full of banners bearing Sigma's insignia rather than an industrial area. X fights through onslaughts of enemies, including rematches with the remaining three Mavericks, before arriving in a chaotic-looking chamber where he finds Zero laying on the floor. The encounter with Vile happens here instead, though it plays out the same, resulting in the deaths of both Vile and Zero, and giving X the Arm Parts if he does not already posses them. X then finishes the stage by fighting D-Rex.

Sigma Stage 4[]

Sigma Stage 4

The final stage. It is a cramped vertical area with Creepers on the walls. Climbing up it leads to Sigma's room, where he sends Velguarder against X as a final test. After Velguarder's defeat, Sigma himself challenges X, taking on two forms throughout their battle. Once X defeats his Wolf Sigma form, the entire palace begins to detonate, forcing X to teleport away and leave Sigma to supposedly die.

Sigma Palace 4 remains completely unchanged in Maverick Hunter X, and is not visited in Vile Mode.

Rockman X manga[]

In the manga, Sigma reveals his flying fortress to X after Boomer Kuwanger's defeat. X's X-Buster became unusable after his previous battle, but he decides to go after Sigma despite his current state. In the fortress, X finds several broken Mechaniloids defeated by Zero, and finds a damaged Zero captured by Vile. Zero manages to escape and destroys Vile's Ride Armor, but it costs him his life. After defeating Vile and later Sigma, Sigma's head combines with a powerful giant wolf-like body. To defeat Sigma, X takes down the base, which burned when entering the atmosphere.
